Oui ou non?

I think I may have finally found the name for my little girl due late April/early May.

Quinn Aurelia [Trenholm]

I had a hard time finding a middle name that sounds good with Quinn and my last name but the more I say this, the more I like it - it actually gave me butterflies when I put the names together.

Thoughts/opinions?

I think I like the flow of Aurelia Quinn better, but I like it:)

I love it!
Though I think Aurelia is too pretty for middle name.
I'd go with Aurelia Quinn myself.. but Quinn Aurelia Trenholm can't be faulted :-)

Froofy it may be, Aurelia Quinn Trenholm is just too striking to pass up!

I am a fan of girly, frilly names though.

it's pretty much perfect IMO :-)

I love Quinn and I love Aurelia. I have to agree, I think Aurelia Quinn flows a little better, even with your last name taken into account, but I can see how Aurelia Trenholm might be a bit of a mouthful for a younger child.

Quinn is one of my absolute favorites, and I'm stuck on middle names for it, too, so I can see what you mean, definitely.

I actually hate Quinn. It reminds me of 'filler' middle names, like Lynn, or Ann. Plus, it's way too unisex - no one would ever know whether she was a girl or a boy until she saw her. Sorry, it's just not my taste at all. I do like Aurelia, though.

Also, I'm not sure if Quinn Tenholm flows very well. I think it's the repeated 'n' sound.

I'm not usually a fan of unisex names, but just the other day I was thinking how lovely Quinn is. I think it sounds beautiful with Aurelia. Congrats! :)

It sounds lovely, whether she's named Quinn Aurelia or Aurelia Quinn.

First up, let's talk about the initials QAT.
It's a little-known Melanesian God
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qat_%28deity%29

And also a stimulant drug from the Horn of Africa/Middle East
http://www.al-bab.com/yemen/soc/qat.htm

But the first thing I thought of was Bob Dylan:
Come all without, come all within
You'll not see nothing like the mighty Quinn

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quinn_the_Eskimo_(The_Mighty_Quinn)

I don't know how many other people would make that connection. But I like the idea of an eskimo daughter (!)

The only female Quinn that springs to my mind is Quinn on Daria (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quinn_Morgendorffer) — hardly a positive association.

To be honest, I'd go with Aurelia Quinn if only because people more frequently dislike their middle names than first, perhaps because first is more linked to their sense of identity, and with a love-or-hate-it name like Aurelia, I'd want my kid to love it instead of always hiding what the middle initial stands for. But Quinn is middle of the roadish enough that little Aurelia would probably be happy to share what the Q stands for, y'know? Besides, Aurelia Q. Trenholm has a sense of humor and quirk that Quinn A. Trenholm doesn't.

As far as Quinn being "stronger" than Aurelia, I just don't see it. Aurelia sounds kind of ass-kicking, in a good way, and Quinn... is nice enough.

Aurelia is absolutely gorgeous and elegant. Aurelia Trenholm sounds like a beautiful, strong, classy heroine of a romance novel.

Quinn is masculine and plain and doesn't carry the same aura of intelligence or beauty. And it makes me think of Jerry O'Connell.

I'd go with Aurelia and lose Quinn altogether in favor of a simple but feminine middle name, maybe something from your family.

LOVE Quinn, hate Aurelia. Please don't change it to Aurelia Quinn! Who cares if it's not super feminine?

I second this. Quinn is great, Aurelia is a nice middle name. Personally, when I see Aurelia it looks like areiola. But that is just me!

There is also a kind of cnidarian (ugly jellyfish type creature) called Aurelia, and that is all I can think of when I hear the name.

I love the name Quinn. It's my mother's maiden name and will be my daughter's middle name. I think Aurelia would be rather difficult for a child to pronounce, as well as many teachers (at least at first). I defiantly think it makes a better middle name.

I love Quinn, actually, and I like it much better than Aurelia so keep Quinn. I can never figure out how people want me to say Aurelia so that's a major downfall for me.

The first thing I think of is also Quinn from Daria, but it's not negative. More "Aww, I wish that show were still on."

pronunciation?

How do you pronounce Aurelia? I am sure I am prounouncing it with a spanish flair, as I came across the male name Aurelio while living in Guatemala.

Which sylable gets the accent, and how do you pronounce the Au?

R-L-E-ah?

Thanks!

Thanks!

I prefer the spanish way of pronouncing every vowel independantly. Ou-reh-lee-ah accent on the reh syllable. But all three ways (thus mentioned) are pretty-sounding.

Quinn is fair, even if it screams DARIA.

Am I the ONLY person who reads Aurelia as Areola????

Well, at least I'm not a freak :P I wouldn't let an association ruin a name unless it's REALLY bad (anal eze would probably do it for me too). Especially on a middle name, it's not that big of a deal.
