Oui ou non?
Jan. 2nd, 2008 05:06 pmI think I may have finally found the name for my little girl due late April/early May.
Quinn Aurelia [Trenholm]
I had a hard time finding a middle name that sounds good with Quinn and my last name but the more I say this, the more I like it - it actually gave me butterflies when I put the names together.
Thoughts/opinions?

Date: 2008-01-02 09:12 pm (UTC)Though I think Aurelia is too pretty for middle name.
I'd go with Aurelia Quinn myself.. but Quinn Aurelia Trenholm can't be faulted :-)

Date: 2008-01-02 09:23 pm (UTC)Froofy it may be, Aurelia Quinn Trenholm is just too striking to pass up!
I am a fan of girly, frilly names though.
it's pretty much perfect IMO :-)

Date: 2008-01-02 11:29 pm (UTC)It's a little-known Melanesian God

And also a stimulant drug from the Horn of Africa/Middle East

But the first thing I thought of was Bob Dylan:
Come all without, come all within
You'll not see nothing like the mighty Quinn

I don't know how many other people would make that connection. But I like the idea of an eskimo daughter (!)

Date: 2008-01-02 11:34 pm (UTC)To be honest, I'd go with Aurelia Quinn if only because people more frequently dislike their middle names than first, perhaps because first is more linked to their sense of identity, and with a love-or-hate-it name like Aurelia, I'd want my kid to love it instead of always hiding what the middle initial stands for. But Quinn is middle of the roadish enough that little Aurelia would probably be happy to share what the Q stands for, y'know? Besides, Aurelia Q. Trenholm has a sense of humor and quirk that Quinn A. Trenholm doesn't.
As far as Quinn being "stronger" than Aurelia, I just don't see it. Aurelia sounds kind of ass-kicking, in a good way, and Quinn... is nice enough.

Date: 2008-01-02 11:40 pm (UTC)Quinn is masculine and plain and doesn't carry the same aura of intelligence or beauty. And it makes me think of Jerry O'Connell.
I'd go with Aurelia and lose Quinn altogether in favor of a simple but feminine middle name, maybe something from your family.

pronunciation?
Date: 2008-01-03 04:56 am (UTC)Which sylable gets the accent, and how do you pronounce the Au?
R-L-E-ah?
Thanks!
Re: pronunciation?
Date: 2008-01-03 02:35 pm (UTC)There is a sound clip of it here here (http://www.babynamer.com/aurelia) (click the little speaker next to the name at the top) - she says it like Amelia with an 'r' instead of an 'm.'
Re: pronunciation?
Date: 2008-01-03 10:10 pm (UTC)I prefer the spanish way of pronouncing every vowel independantly. Ou-reh-lee-ah accent on the reh syllable. But all three ways (thus mentioned) are pretty-sounding.

Date: 2008-01-03 02:38 pm (UTC)You are the second person who's said they read it as areola so I may go back to the drawing board for middle names. It's not like her middle name will come up often but it kind of ruins it - like Anneliese was ruined when someone mentioned Anal Eaze.
