Confirmation names
Dec. 28th, 2007 01:01 amSo, I don't know if other religions have an equivalent of this or not, but, in Roman Catholicism, when a person is confirmed, he or she is required to chose a confirmation name. The confirmation name was once supposed to be the name of a saint or biblical person for whom the confirmand has an affinity, but they've started letting people use their own names if they don't want a new name. I went through confirmation in eleventh grade and, of course, wanted to pick a new name for myself. I almost picked Gemma, but ended up going with Veronica, officially because I liked her story and Veronica was my great-grandmother's middle name, and unofficially because I was in love with Veronica Mars.
So, did anyone else here have to pick out a confirmation name, or something of the like?
