Just curious..

I had serious issuse with the name Linda for the longest time (I hated someone named linda..) and then I was neutral to it but just didn't think it sounded particularly nice and it sounded dated and now I love it. I blame it on Linda Perry.. although how could that make me suddenly like the sound of it (Plus ive liked her for many more years than the last couple months of like the name..)
What names have you guys despised and randomly started to like? If you know the reason, explain perhaps..

Serena, because of this bitchy girl in my second grade class. Funny how that can happen.

But now that I watch Gossip Girl, I like it again :-D

Emily--a girl in 1st grade who was popular (and I am a nerd) and when I asked if I could be her friend, she told me that I had to eat sand from the playground if I wanted to. I walked away.

Now I like it because of Emily Bronte (thus proving my nerdiness).

Originally, I thought that both Sophia and Isabella were really ugly names, but they both began to grow on me, and now they're both in my top five. Henry did the same thing, too, as did Olivia, but I think Olivia grew on me because of SVU. I was also never really fond of Veronica until I started watching Veronica Mars.

heh, heeeey that's my name! i hated it for awhile too. i HATED that basically everyone somehow knows a Linda who was born in the 50s [i'm 22 and it's not common for someone my age but for some reason people couldn't get enough of it in the 50s and 60s]. i really dislike popular names :\ but it's grown on me

oh and as for a name that's grown on me...Angelina. i initally thought that a)it was just too much, kind of pretentious and very girly and b)people would also just think i'm a crazy obsessive Angelina Jolie fan but i really really love it now.

A name thats growing on me is Rebel. :/ :X My niece comes home from school everyday talking about this boy in her class named Rebel. At first I was like "why would you name your kid REBEL?" But for some odd reason everytime I hear it, I like it more and more.

Astrid.

I thought it looked and sounded so ugly for quite a while. Then I read 'White Oleander' (and watched the movie as well) and that character is so strong and authentic...and now it's one of my most favourite names =).
Also, Astrid is a Scandinavian name, and I love Scandinavia, which makes it extra appealing.

Also, Amanda.
I don't actually love this name but I've grown quite fond of it over the past few years, because all of a sudden every great person I met/discovered was called Amanda.

Yay for White Oleander! =)

& I'm sure I'd still despise Amanda too if it weren't for all those great women =P

Martha. I met a second cousin named it who I really like and it grew on me for a while, and I really like the way it sounds and I like saying it, but I can't get over the Martha Stewart thing.

I didn't despise the name Emma, but it always seemed really 'blah' to me. Now i work in a school and there's the cutest most adorable 5 year old named Emma, and i love it now.

Justin. I always hated the name, then I saw it on a character on TV that I loved and now it is in my top three boys names.

Well, I really hate this girl called Natalie which SUCKS as it used to be my favourite name. I still love the name but eh, just can't get past the association! I'm settling with Natalia.
