I heard two names today, that almost made me stop and do a double take. Both girls, the first was probably 3-4. The second was 22 months.

Kiki is my nickname, but oh sweet Jesus, I can't imagine not being able to introduce myself as anything but!
I adore Ayla, but I'm really quite biased, I was once completely in love with a girl named Ayla-Jade.
Which, when I think about it, is quite a trashy name.

I'd like Kiki if it were a nickname for something. I actually used Kiki as a nickname for a while in 4th grade (my name is Karlie). I think it can be a nickname for anything that starts with K or C.

In 5th grade, we had 1st grade buddies and mine was named Ayla! I think she was Israeli or Persian. She was super cute, though I don't really like the name that much. To me it looks like it's missing a K or L at the front.

Kiki is a great nickname, but not a given name.

And there was someone on American Idol a couple seasons ago named Ayla ... I don't like it, the pronunciation is not intuitive to me.

Ayla was my pseudonym!middle name. When I was thirteen.

Kiki is actually fairly common as a nickname for Kristin, Kiersten, and Katherine, and I'm supposing several other names, so at least it's probably not the given name.

Yes Ayla is the main character in the Earth's Children series by Jean M Auel. Great story, and I love the name in the story, but it seems odd for me to hear it in the real world.
