Sounds to me like either a) they wanted/thought they were having a boy, and so had their hearts set on Kevin and decided to feminize it; or b) they wanted to honor someone named Kevin and this was the best they came up with. Either way: lame.

Along those lines, I knew a woman once named Royce - she was named after her father, Roy. I think it's a ridiculously stupid name.
