Sorry for a second post tonight, but when I saw this I couldn't resist. It's from my hometown newspaper.

Celebrating her first birthday today is Kaelyn Marie *lastname*, daughter of Melissa and Andrew Cozad of *town*, granddaughter of Greg and Diane *lastname* of *town* and Braden and Marie *lastname* of *town*.


Is anyone else surprised to see the name Braden (which, I'm assuming is prounced BRAY-den) on a GRANDFATHER?

I'm not totally shocked because one of my friends dad is named Braden. I think its cool though.

Braden is an Irish surname as well, so I'd assume that perhaps Braden was his mother's maiden name, or maybe a family name.

Most of the -aden names existed before they became insanely popular. There are exceptions as people latch onto the trend and start making things up, of course, but most are real names. The spelling variants are another matter entirely, though.

I grew up in a town called Bradenton and I saw Bradens of all ages.
