[identity profile] luxury-bus.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
We're due in late April/early May with triplets -- so really, we're due late Febuary/early march -- and people have started to notice a bit of a "boring" pattern to our name selections.

For girls, we like:
Eleanor
Ruth
Amelia
Kathleen
Helen/Helena
Susan
Elise

And for boys, we like:
Henry
Jack
Theodore (Theo)
Samuel

Is my family doomed to have boring names? None of them are official, because we haven't determined the sexes and we still have loads of other names we're picking through, but these are our current tops (as you can see, we're lacking in  boy names). We'll be taking how well the names sound together into consideration but....  I'm a bit worried. Are these names truly dull, or are we paranoid?

Absolutely not boring! Gorgeous, actually.

I love Amelia, Kathleen, Helena, Henry, Jack (as a nickname) and Theodore. I like Eleanor, Ruth, Elise and Samuel.

At least these names will grow with your children, and won't doom them to being perpetually 5. Unlike Aidan/Aiden/Aydan/Ayden and Madison/Madyson/Matison/Mattyson/Madysyn/etc.

They are NOT boring. I think they're great, classic, timeless names, and trust me, your kids will be grateful for 'boring' names when they're 30 and their names actually fit their ages!

My favorites are:
Eleanor, Amelia, Kathleen
Theodore, Samuel, Henry.

I think those six (in different combinations, obviously) sound great together, and not of them are 'boring,' at least in my opinion.

Stick with the ones you like. Trust me; you'll be glad you've given your kids 'boring' names when they actually fit them later in life. And with classes full of Dylans, Jacobs, Logans, Aidans, Braydens, Jaydens, and Madisons, Mackenzies, Avas, and Isabellas, your kids' names will be like a breath of fresh air;)

sorry I skipped a word there. I meant to say "I don't think any of your names are boring"

Also when I say "my top 3" I mean my top 3 from your list.

I absolutely love all your names- not boring in the least.
I love Eleanor, Amelia, Helen/Helena (how would you pronounce this?) and all of your boys' names.

Especially Henry. That is one amazing name.

That's where I first discovered it.
(And I much prefer Helena said that way as well.)

I still feel partial to the names.
I don't particularly like Alba or Clare, but I feel like I should because of the book.

Not boring at all.
Classic is the perfect word to describe your tastes.

I love most of your choices. Eleanor is a favorite of mine, as are Jack and Henry.

First of all congratulations!!! That's awesome you're having triplets :D!!

Secondly, the names are definitely not boring, they're lovely. Eleanor is one of my tops and I LOVE all the boy ones.

I love your names! My favorites are Eleanor, Amelia, and Helena for girls. Henry, Jack, and Theodore (Theo) for boys. Eleanor especially is one of the most gorgeous names ever!

Not boring. Nice. And sensible. Just because you aren't naming your kids Gage and Trace and Mackenzie doesn't mean you're doing it wrong.

Most of your names are the new fad in this community, so you won't get too many people telling you they're dull. That being said, I don't think they're dull at all. They're nice. :)

The only name I don't like is Ruth, and that's only because I knew a really rude girl named Ruth in middle school. Plus, it's sort of old lady-ish.

I absolutely love all your boys names, especially. Not boring at all.

Congratulations!

I don't think they're boring names at all. I like a lot of them.

Eleanor, Amelia, Elise, and Henry are my favourites, though!

No way are they boring! I LOVE traditional names and all my top names are traditional.

My favourites are Ruth, Amelia, Elise and Theo!

The only one that sounds boring to me is Jack, because so many boys born lately are named Jack. The rest of them aren't boring at all. They're lovely names, and you and your kids will probably be complimented on them, because they work so well.

My favorite is Susan! I also like Kathleen, Henry, and Jack.

I think these names are lovely, and since your kids will probably be the only ones in their class with these names (well, maybe not Henry and Jack) they will not be boring at all.

When people pick kr8tyve names just for the sake of not being boring, that's when they actually become boring and not unique because the kids will be just like all the other Aydyns in their class.

I don't find the names you have listed there boring. And even if they were they're your babies and you should be able to call then whatever you want. I wouldn't listen to other people. You need to be happy with the names you chose.

If those are your choice, I definitely don't think your children will need to worry about having boring names. Those are lovely choices. Several of them are on my list of favorites.

you're not "lacking" in boys' names; you have 4 and you only need (at most) 3 ;)

I'd pick..
Eleanor
Ruth
Amelia

and

Henry
Theodore (Theo)
Samuel

Amelia, Elise, Henry and Theo are fantastic.

They others are blah...

I like the way you're taking them into consideration and giving them names from the same vein though.

not ONE of those names is boring. They are all classic and elegant. The only type of person to find these names boring is the person who names their children Jasymyn and Braedyn. DON'T second guess yourself!

They're mainstream yet interesting, which is realistically the best you can hope for in choosing someone's lifelong title. And I love, love, LOVE Elise.
