WDYT of Étoile (star in French)? My cousin used it as a middle name for her daughter, Rachel Étoile, a few years ago. Apparently it is her husband's grandmother's middle name as well. I think it's cute as a middle name, but probably wouldn't be gutsy enough to use it as a first.

Also, WDYT of the name Haven for a boy. I know someone who used it, and it's different. Her parent's were freaking out because they thought it was horrible and that he'd get teased a bunch and stuff, but I assured them with some of the names coming out now, he'd be fine.

Also, some different names of people I know:
Not necessarily "weird" names, but less common ones

I'm not a fan of Étoile...The meaning is awesome, but I don't like the sound of it.
I like Haven though, as well as Asher and Lacey.

I'm not crazy about Etoile...it makes me think of "toilet."

YAY! someone used Benita! I called my kitten that, and was often accused of making it up

I like Etoile! I doubt I would be gutsy enough to use it as a first name, but I think it is lovely as a middle name.:)

Haven, I just know too many little girls named that to think of it as masculine.

i like Benita and Namir, though i wouldn't use them, Alek too, and Fierah.
Etoile is one of my favourite frensh names, so i think its a lovely middle name, and i think i like Haven, i'd never really thought about it before.
yes, i do like Haven.

It makes me think of the Degas drawing of the same name. I like it in theory, but I think a lot of personality types wouldn't fit well with it, and pronunciation could be an issue.

I love Etoile (but only as a middle name -- it's too similar to toilet), but I disike Haven.

Also, I like:
Elton (I'd never use it, because it is automatically associated with Elton John... even though I like Elton John)
Davey (is a cute nickname for David)
Kiri (only as a nickname for Keiran)
Sinead
Lacey
Tory (on its own or as a nickname for Victoria)

Etoile - All I can think of is the title for princial dancers at the Paris Opera Ballet - but that is just me. I don't like it very much.

I really like Etoile. It's actually been a name I've liked for years and we may use it, but I do have other names I like better. I wouldn't mind using it as a first name. One reason I might like it better as a middle name is I find foerign words don't always flow as well in American English.

Te other names-- the only really horrible one is Shaman.
I meat a Phylicia the other day. :/

As far as Étoile goes, I'd probably just use Estella, instead (it's one of my favorites), but it's not awful.

Haven could be worse, but it's so close to Heaven that on a boy, I could definitely see how he'd be in for some teasing.
