Dec. 10th, 2007 01:37 pmWhat do you guys think of the name Andrew with the nickname Ender?
I love the Ender's Game association, as that is my favorite book, but I wouldn't want to name a kid AFTER Andrew "Ender" Wiggin (but again, I don't plan on having kids any time soon).
I love the name Andrew without any nicknames, but I dislike the nicknames Andy and Drew, and I wonder if those names would come naturally from the name Andrew. I do like Ender though. My association isn't with the word at all, like, I don't think "Finisher", I think Ender's Game.
Also, do you think Andrew will be dated in 10 years? It's always been a pretty popular name, in the top 100 for as long as the SSA list goes back, but its spiked to the top 10 in the last 20 years.

Date: 2007-12-11 11:21 am (UTC)I think it is one of those names that will always fit. I don't think it would ever get dated. My friends are 34 and 27.
I'm not sure about the nickname Ender, just because I can't see how it comes from Andrew (I know there are common letters but it just doesn't seem like a natural nn) That being said I think Ender sounds nice so if that is the nn you wanted to use I say go for it.
