Ashley or Ashlee. i have to admit this is one of those names that i have come to dislike and it's almost completely because i'm sick of seeing it spelled so many ways.
Even though Ashley is actually the typical spelling.. I don't really like it as much as I like Ashlee and Ashleigh. Those are the only other two I do like.. but that's because I grew up around two girls spelling it "Ashlee" and one "Ashleigh" (she was my best friend in like first grade). So, it's probably that for me.. but I like it. And even though it's traditionally a boys name... I have a hard time imagining it on boys because I don't know any boys named that while I do know plenty of girls with the name.
I have come to hate the name altogether due to the hoard of ditzy blonde annoying Ashley's I went to high school with.
I know a girl who has twins Caleb and Ashlee. I think Ashlee looks kind of trendy and rednecky. Ashley looks correct but still hate, Ashleigh looks snobby, like regular 'ley' wasn't fancy enough. The rest of them are ridiculous.
Well... i don't like the name Ashley much, but i found it interesting that a 2 syllable name could have so many possible spellings. If i absolutely had to name my daughter Ashley, i would spell it Ashleigh, simply because i love "eigh" in a name. But that's just me. Personally, i think we should stop naming children Ashley. Girls or boys. Because girls will never know which one they are and boys will get teased. i used to hate the name on a boy, but then i saw/read Gone With The Wind, and it didn't seem so bad. But Ashley Wilkes was kind of a wuss-fart. Asheley. Just thought of another one. ot typo'ed it rather.

Date: 2007-12-06 09:36 pm (UTC)Ashle, Ashlei & Ashlea aren't "Ashley"... Ashle is "Ash-le"- Ashlei is "Ash-lay"- Ashlea i would say as "Ash-lee-uh"
