I like Anna, Emily, and Madeline for the first name and I think they all sound great with Claire as a middle:) The only one I don't particularly like is Sidney, which is spelled in the masculine way. Sydney is slightly better, but I still think the others are better choices.

Golly, I had no idea there were masculine/feminine forms. I just picked the spelling I liked better! LOL.

We're actually debating that anyway, since a friend of mine just had a baby named Sydney and we don't want anyone getting a big head over us "picking their name". We'll see. =o)

I think Sidney technically *can* be used on a girl, but every Sidney I've ever known was a boy and every Sydney has been a girl, so I just assume, and I think a lot of other people do, too. Besides, Sid looks like...I don't know. I'm not a fan of Sid for some reason. Syd doesn't bother me quite as much, and I sort of like Cyd (like Cyd Charisse), but not enough to advocate changing the spelling to Cydney;)

Like I said, I just think you have names on your list that are MUCH nicer.

Emily Claire. That's so cute. I definitely like that the best.
I also like Sophia Claire.
And I LOVE Chole but I don't like it at all with Antoinette.. and I don't think it sounds the best with your last name.

Part of our problem is that everything sounds stupid with our last name. My name is Lynzee Elzey. Which just SCREAMS Dr. Seuss, and I don't want to scar my kids. =o(

This was the process: We saw the name "Adonis". We liked the way it sounded. My husband is Greek, so it gave us an excuse to use it. We are using it as a middle name because it makes a stupid first name.

Actually, we picked the name because (oddly enough) we like the sound of it. My husband is Greek, so we thought it'd be neat to somehow incorporate a Greek name. Voila. None of the names we've picked are heavily concentrated on the meanings. As long as the meaning isn't "a pile of dung", I'm fine with it.

Hey, at least I'm not dying to name my kid "Precious Angelpie" or something along those lines. So it could be worse.

It's not even the meaning -- it's the connotation. People hear Adonis and they go right to the Greek demi-god. Talk about having standards to live up to.

They're all great choices. I don't like Chloe, but that's just personal taste. I think my favourite is Anna Sofia.

We talked about Annabel (or some variation of that), but "Annabel Elzey" clashes. And Annabel is such a pretty name that I would hate to shorten it to Anna. Sigh.

Really? Around here, the names I picked are uncommon on anyone under the age of 20. Everyone around here names their kids Kayden, Aidan, Jayden, Aaliyah (I know three little girls named Aaliyah, no doubt), Nevaeh, blah blah blah. Stuff like that. It's uncommon to have a classic name, it seems.

Emily was the most popular name for babies born last year!
Hannah was 8th, Anna 23rd, madeline, 71 (but remember you have all the alternative spellings so it's more.. and Madison was number 3 so there are tons of Maddies out there) Sofia 51st (but Sophia was 9)

So really.. you're looking at a very popular group of names! I'm all for the classic names, they're gorgeous.. that's why they're popular, all good if it doesn't matter to you but if you use a top 10 name beware you daughter will know lots of others and will probably be "Hannah E" in school..

Yeah, I live in Ohio. I know my names are common, I'd just like to know where. My local newspaper does a yearly issue that features babies born in the area, and of all the entries, you MIGHT see an Emily or two. All the other babies have seriously whacked out names. Though Madison and Ava are extremely popular.

So here in the midwest, I think I'm safe, as far as not having to worry about 12 of the same name being in her class. Believe me, I thought about it. Haha. Every other girl is named either Jayden or Aaliyah, so I'm not overly concerned.

Our biggest obstacle was finding names that don't sound stupid with our surname, so try not to completely destroy me. ;o)

Madeline (49)and Anna (23) are okay.. I'd still stick away from Madeline because of the Maddie thing, Madison (2).
