Okay, so recently I've been thinking a lot about the name Troy. I really like it a lot, but I feel almost like it's not complete, like it needs something more. Of course, it's probably just me, as adding anything to it sounds silly (Troysen, Troyton, etc), and I know that it's just a name, and not a nick name. What do you all think?

It's a long shot, but it could be a nn for Anthony?

How about lengthening it to Troyan (Troyen, etc.)?

Troyden! Hahaha.

Sorry, I know a guy named Troy and he's creepy. So, I'm not really a fan of the name.

Check behindthename.com?

I love it. I think it's perfect by itself.. but if you think it sounds incomplete.. maybe consider it as a middle name instead?

I have a cousin named Troy. He has a twin brother named Kevin. I've grown up with the name, since the boys are nearly my age, and I think it's nice. It could be a good middle name.

I think is sound really good as a first name and adding things to it seems odd or wrong. I don't like Troyar or Troyan...

It has something missing because you want to say Paris Of... Troy.

I think it's perfectly fine on its own.
Its simplicity is endearing to me (I met a cute baby cow on Halloween named Troy so the name has its perks for me).

I live too close to Troy University to like it for a child. It's not a bad name, though. I definitely wouldn't lengthen it.

Oh dear, I'm afraid I'm the first to strongly dislike it, always have. Dunno why *shrugs*

Something about it seems incomplete to me, too, like it should be a nickname for something. But I think, with the right middle name, it could flow very nicely and work on its own as a first name.

I'm sure this will never be an issue with anyone else, um, ever, but the name always makes me think of the scrawny, squeaky kid the "Mystery Science Theater" episode The Final Sacrifice. So it always seems kind of humorous to me, especially when I think about the goofy-looking bad guy with a deep voice modifier shouting, "TRRRROY. GIVE US THE MAP, TRRRRROY."

My boyfriend wants to name our baby Trey. And I feel the same way about it as you do.. it's not.. all there? It's too short and nick-namey sounding for me. But he loves it. I think Troy & Trey are just better left alone to be honest. I tried adding all sorts of endings to it and it didnt work.

I know a really cute boy named Troy so I give it a thumbs up.

You could do Troilus, as in Troilus and Cressida (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troilus_and_Cressida) but I like Troy better.
