When I was born, my dad wanted my name to be Stevie, after Stevie Nicks( singer. fleetwood mac). My mom was totally against it. He even said he'd want Stephaine(sp?) and then call me Stevie. She didn't budge. I was wondering, would you want to name your daughter Stevie?

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stevie Nicks is my favorite person in the world!!!! If I ever have children I will name one after her or one of her songs.
I wouldn't name my daughter just Stevie, though, because Stevie Nicks's given name is Stephanie Lynn, so I'd name her Stephanie but always call her Stevie.
I was almost named Stephanie and I'm mad that my mom didn't pick a name that Stevie could be logically derived from.

My boyfriends ex was called Stevie (well that was her nickname, her full name was Stephanie). I actually like the nickname Stevie on a girl and love the name Stephanie but, for somewhat obvious reasons, my boyfriend HATES it lol. So it's definitely not our list :P

(But I still like it)

Haha, I dated a guy who had almost the same name as me like that. It was funny but kind of annoying.

I once worked with a Stevi-Lee. Trashy name. Trashy girl! She was called both Stevi-Lee and Stevi.

I would not mind at all being named Stevie if my full name was something more formal.

I think Stevie is very cute for a girl.

I think Stevie could work on Stephanie.

It's fine on a Stephanie.

Stevie by itself is pretty bad.

No. I'd be in constant fear she's grow up sounding like a goat.

But seriously, I love Stevie Nicks, but the name itself doesn't do it for me.

I kinda like Stevie! I think it's cute. I know in English speaking countries it's a nickname, but here it could actually work =)

I think using it as nickname for Stephanie okay, but I wouldn't call her only Stevie.
Sounds too much like a boy for me ;)

I think it's adorable. I used to work with a girl named Stevie and it couldn't have fit her better.

Fuck no.

The closest I can get to that name is a male cat named Steve. It just sounds stupid on a girl. I'm so glad you dodged that bullet.

Stevie is the kind of name that really depends on the personality. In my opinion, the best thing to do in those cases is give the full name (such as Stephanie) and allow the child to choose whether or not she feels like a "Stevie" once her personality has begun to form. Personally, I really like the name Stevie, but I don't think it would work on a lot of girls.

I'm a Stephanie and my father is a huge Stevie Nicks fan. I've always suspected there was a connection, though he won't admit it. Thankfully, no one's ever called me Stevie. I don't like Stephanie, but Stevie? Soooo much worse. I do find it very endearing, however, when people call me Steph or Stephy.

The other night, I was half-asleep and my mind was wandering, and I said to my boyfriend, "Stevie's a nickname for Stephanie."

I'm sure he had no idea what I was talking about, but he said, "Yeah?"

"Yeah. That's almost Evie. Which could be Eve. You could call me Eve."

His name's Adam and I get teased about being his Eve more than you'd think possible.

We looked at one another for a moment, and then I said, "Let's never tell anyone we had this conversation."

He agreed.

Which I guess I'm doing now, but moving on.

Stevie Nicks is awesome...but I'd stick with Stephanie and leave Stevie as a nickname.
