I have a bad name association with it. Vera was the lady my great-grandmother played Yatzee with for years when I was little. Vera and my great-grandmother were very competitive and catty with each other.

It reminds me of two things...

1. The musical Mame. I don't mind that Vera is boisterous, but she's kind of a lush, and harsh, lol.

2. Vera, Norm's unseen wife on Cheers.


Either way - not the best images brought to mind, but I like it as a sound/name itself.

It reminds me of the lady who ran the bookstore in high school. A lot of people didn't like here and thought she was bitchy. You didn't want to be on her bad side. Her office was decorated with Wizard of Oz memorbilia.

I love it! Ever hear of Ukrainian drag queen/singer Verka Serduchka? Verka is the diminuitive form of Vera, so yes, I'm quite partial to it.

i like it, but my husband vetoed it. there's a "vera" association in a pink floyd song, and there's also a historical figure vera lynn, who wikipedia tells me is the same person in the musical Dame that a commenter above mentioned, i believe:
