[identity profile] istytehcrawk.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
Hi everyone! I'm new here, so I thought I'd make my first post a good one - a list of the babies born at one of the local hospitals since the hospital's site was redone in August.  Oh, and I'd just like to say that I am a name addict. I'm constantly making lists of names I like.

Bladyn was the first one that hit me.

Then Gunner.

These names aren't even remotely appealing.
What kind of medication are these people taking when they pick out names?

Wait, how do you even pronounce Xaview? Is that like Xavier only with a 'u' sound on the end?

Ugh.

Not just "Gunner," but "Gunnar." *eyeroll* Poor child. It sounds like an accent - "We gunnar go shoot some road signs."

Gunnar is actually a legit Scandinavian name (http://www.behindthename.com/name/gunnar). But I guess that doesn't mean that it sounds or looks good outside of Scandinavia. ;)

I actually like the correct pronounciation and spelling of the name. However, I strongly dislike the connection to guns and the awful mispronounciation in English speaking countries.

I'm not sure I've ever heard it pronounced correctly, but I can't get over the gun thing myself.

It's supposed to be said GOON-nar, kind of like how Gunthar is supposed to be GOON-thor.
