i was just watching I Love Lucy and noticed that her BFFs real name is Vivian... and realized that i haven't seen the name Vivian on any lists recently.. (maybe i've overlooked it?)  

so what does everybody think of it?  and what middle names do you like for it??

Vivian brings family drama to home for me! My papaw's second wife, who was just his mistress then, got preggos by him and he divorced my Maw to marry him (granted Maw knew he had a mistress and had her last 3 kids by other various men (mail man, milk man, Jewish dude hwo owned the corner store) but that was all unbeknownst, as far as I know, to Papaw.. though the indian with the Red headed children by the blonde german should have given him SOME clue...))

anyway, I digress my family is fun for this type of stuff!). Papaw mistress, who's baby was due merely days before Maw's, named her bundle of drug addicted joy Denise Vivian... my Maw, in all her hatred for Papaw (even those this wasn't his kid, it was the Mail Mans, literally) named her new bouncing baby girl Vivian Denise.

Sadly, I love the name Vivian, and even those both my aunt Denise's are batshit crazy... I still think the best combo is Vivian Denise...

Vivienne was on my short list for a while but, now, I don't know. I like the name, I'm just not sure I like it for MY baby.

I really like it, though I dont think that I would ever use it.

It has a good meaning and was also one of the chosen names of the Lady of the Lake in Arthurian legend (I'm a sucker for that kinda stuff)

Whenever I hear the name Vivian, I immediately think of Vyvyan Basterd (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Young_Ones_%28TV_series%29#Vyvyan_Basterd).

For almost 15 years now, the name Vyvyan has been on my male-name list.

I love the name Vivian. It isn't one I'd choose for a child (it sounds pretty awful with my last name and my partner's), but I like how it sounds strong yet pretty, and oldfashionedly vivacious.

For middle names I like:

I've not heard of it in RL in recent years...but the name makes me think of Vivi in the "Ya-Ya Sisterhood" books. I really enjoyed her character, so that would evoke a good mental image, were I to chose the name :-)
