If you or your future child ever plan on living in the Seattle area, please please please do not name your child Aurora! There is a street in Seattle named Aurora, and it is VERY netorious for prostitution. Your child will be teased, and employers will laugh at their resume. Just wanted to save some poor future child who may come to the great pacific northwest.

We have a street like that in Rochester, NY -- Lyle Avenue. Luckily Lyle isn't a very popular name, but every time I hear it, I always think of that.

And if you live in Toronto, don't name your child Jane St. Clair :).

It's the intersection of Jane st. And St. Clair st. Just not a nice area :). Jane and anything isn't nice in Toronto :). There's a Barenaked Ladies song called Jane, where the girl is named Jane St. Clair because one of their friends or associates saw the intersection on a map and said it must be the prettiest place in all of Toronto, and they just laughed :). So they made her into a song :).

honestly though.. do you know how many names you'd have to rule out "just in case" your child turned out to have a nomadic nature.. here in my town there's the notorious Nelson Street.. i'm sure there's a street like that in every town.. but you can't rule out all those names..

Hell, I won't name my children until after they're grown and I've completely researched every inch of the town they intend to stay in for the rest of their lives.

Y'know...I'm from the Pacific Northwest, and I knew that, and yet...I have never associated it with the woman's name Aurora. Just like I don't associate it with the Aurora Borealis, Aurora Illinois, or Sleeping Beauty. I don't doubt that you giggle at all children named Aurora, but that doesn't mean everyone in and around Seattle will.

There is also an Aurora, OR and Aurora, IL. I don't think it would make that much of a difference, unless her last name was Street.
