So... writing a story/book/novel whatever. Need a name for the bad guy. He's obsessive and has kind of a short temper... kind of want him to go by a shortened version of a longer and possibly embarassing name.  He's kind of a computer geek, but still knows his way around the woods, etc. He fancies himself a suspense novel writer and has some serious issues. Anyway, suggestions would be appreiciated.

Rick as a shortening for Warwick? Someone has already mentioned Ed, but I thought of Edmund and Ed (or Eddie) for short.

At first, Kayne came to mind. Reference to Cain, in a modern key.
K in my mind is also a 'badass' name for guys.

I really like the idea of the short name/long embarassing name, it seems to help define your character a lot.
Maybe Ash for Ashley? Ash as in 'ashes', something with a death-like taste, short for a longer, possibly feminine name (thus potentially embarrassing)

Also, 'ash-a' (ascia) is the sound of the word 'ax' in italian.

Another suggestion: Kieran, the 'dark one'. It has a wild flavor to me.

But I'm going to give it more thought :P

Kevin, simply because the short temper and obsessive-ness totally reminds me of my brother, who is named Kevin.

Trey or Trip, because he is the third in the line of a family with embarrassing names.

I was going to offer Llewellyn as the Ultimate Embarrassing Guy Name (imho). Could have been Lou.
