Sorry for the double post, but uh...is anyone else bothered by the fact that the name Aryan is #684 on the top 1000 list?  Are there really that many white supremacists in the world, or are uneducated people just trying to come up with a kr8yv spelling for Aaron and failing miserably?

Haha, wow. I had no idea that that was even a possibly real name... I'm voting for the uneducated.

I honestly doubt most people who name their child Aryan are doing so because they know what it means. Some.. maybe, but not most. The word itself isn't necessarily bad and it doesn't mean anything bad. It was just used that way. I think these parents just didn't pay enough attention to the name and thought it sounded cute.

I hope it's just stupid people thinking you can change all of the inside letters around and still get the same name. (ie it's supposed to be aaron)

Otherwise that is really, really sad. =/

I think they're honestly not making the connection and like the sound of the name.

Aryans and what Hitler defined as Aryans are two different things.

I'm hoping for uneducated, however.

I've met two little boys named Arya, and they weren't white. I'm just pointing out that they are different and that some people might be referring to the other Aryans.

It is a common name in India and Iran, with no negative connotations.

I don't see how it could be an alternative spelling for Aaron, because the two names are pronounced nothing alike. I would go with the above poster and assume that it's mostly people who have a cultural background in which it's a perfectly acceptable name.

'Aryaan or Aryan are quite popular names in India (and surrounding areas). Aryan means "noble" or "son of a noble" - if you take Aryaan with a double a and split it up, Arya means noble/honoured/someone of high birth depending on your interpretation and "Aan" or "ahn" means to prosper and flourish.'

the name has existed long before the 20th century events. i doubt that actual white supremacists even think as far as naming their children aryan. they probably go with thor or anneliese or something.

I think it's supposed to be a spelling (a rather bad one) for Orion. I have no idea about Aryan being a white supremacist though.
