I like it. I think one of the characters on the television show "Passions" is named Pilar.

You would be correct. XD

Oh, and I like it, too. I've heard it as a boy's name also.

I think Pilar is Spanish. And as I've heard it, it's pronounced Pee-Lahr. It's not exactly my style, but it's not a bad name. Has a nice sound to it.

Not my style, I don't get that 'pretty' vibe from it I look for with girls names.

Looking at it, I think pilaf. As in rice.

It's ok. I've never heard it said anyway but pee-LAR though.

It's sort of a name for a stocky, big, beefy girl in my eyes. It's not a pretty name to me. Kind of like Bertha, but not quite that bad. No idea why though, as the Pilars I knew (one actually named that, one girl used it in a Spanish class) were perfectly nice in both appearence and personality.

I like it, but then I like most Spanish names. People who haven't seen the name before would be likely to call her "Piller" though.

I babysat for a Mexican woman (actually from Mexico, I'm not using it as a generic for Latina, lol) whose name was Pilar. It was pronounced PEE-lar. Her husband's nickame for her sounded like Peelee, which sounded kind of strange to me. But all her neighbor friends called her that too.

I have mixed feelings about this name thanks to the character of Pilar on Passions. I think that if I'd never heard of it before, though, I probably wouldn't be all that fond of it, though.

Most people on the show pronounce it pih-LAR, though one woman who's not all that fond of her pronounces it pee-LAR.

I don't like it. I'd pronounce it Pee-lar which is just too close to pillar for me.
