[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/-----citylight/ posting in [community profile] babynames
So, I'm very close to having my baby. Theo(dore) James is the name we've picked out for if its a boy. (Scarlett Jane for a girl) I love them. But recently I've realised that almost all the boys names I like end in a 'O' Like Milo, Hugo, and Otis - although it just starts with O. So anyways, I was wondering what if I have another baby and end up with two boys. I don't think Theo and Milo/Hugo/Otis works.

Maybe Miles or Hugh, but I don't love them as much.
Anyways, suggestions?
Do you have any other names that you think would suit my taste that doesn't end in O?
The only other name I really love that doesn't end in O is Rory, which someone here suggested. So thanks, whoever that was!

By the way, are there any nick names for Scarlett? Not Scar.
And if I end up having a Theodore James, and then later on a Scarlett Jane, is that too weird? Should I change Jane?
What are some good middle names for Scarlett?

Thanks.

Nicknames for Scarlett:
Carly
Carla
Lotta

Can't think of any others.

I think Jane and James are a bit too close... Lots of other names would go with Scarlett though.

Theo sounds fine with any of the other boy's names, in my opinion.

I think you could call a Scarlett "Carly" and it wouldn't be a huge stretch. It sounds better than Scarly, haha. You could also do Lettie or something in that vein. I guess Scary if you wanted something kind of unusual.
OR you could do something that includes the middle name (like first syllables of both combined in some way) or something related to her personality more than her given name.
OR, new idea I just had, that everyone can decide if they like: call her something related to the name's meaning, like Red or Poppy. But maybe that's stretching a bit?

My son is Theo

My 4 year old is Theo(dore) David. I really like Milo. If we have another boy he will be Antonio James and will be called Tony. I like the nick name Lettie for Scarlett.

I think Theodore James and Scarlett Jane are fine. I don't think Jane and James matter.

I know two Scarletts. One is called Lettie and one is called Lottie.

Don't feel bad, in Italy almost every male name ends in 'o', just like almost every female gets a final 'a'. It's pretty true of spanish as well, but they have more names ending with a consonant.

I'm not too big on Jane as a middle name for Scarlett, but if you like it, I don't think it's particularly matchy to James, if that's your concern.

I think it's hard not to shorten Scarlett to Scar, althought I perfectly understand why you wouldn't want that.
Others that come to my mind are unfortunately all names on their own, like Sally and Tess. Carly is doable too, but I'm not strong about it.

Middle names for Scarlett
Scarlett Vanessa
Scarlett Miranda
Scarlett Lilian
Scarlett Eve (pun intended, maybe lol)
Scarlett Alice
Scarlett Joelle

While I think Jane and James would be a confusing sibset as far as first names go, I think they can coexist as middle names without a problem. Although if everyone in the family has J for a middle initial, it'll start to get kind of funny.

Scarlet is a favorite of mine. I always thought Carla or Carly would be a good nickname for it.

Rory? that was me!

I don't think Theo/Hugo/Milo are too weird.. I really like them together actually.

Love both your names. If Scarlett Jane Theodore James are the only two children you're having then Jane/James is fine.. middle names are rarely known anyway. However it would just annoy me slightly if there was a third and the middle name was totally different. I'm odd like that, I don't like anything to be mismatchy if something's already matchy.

I like Lettie/Lottie/Red for a nn for Scarlett!
I LOVE Theodore James. Two of my favourite names!
I think Hugo would be fine with Theo, but I just really hate the name Milo! Sorry, haha.

I think Theo and Otis are fine together, but Hugo and Milo with Theo would be a bit too matchy, perhaps.

I like Theodore and Milo. Theo and Milo match in that they have a similar sound, but aren't matchy (same starting letter, or a perfect rhyme). If you start to feel they are too matchy, you can always introduce the boys as Theodore and Milo, and let people do what they will with the name Theo.

Just don't use Milo and Otis together! ^_~

Your names are really cute. I like Carly, Carrie, and Scary as nn's for Scarlett--though Scary's probably best left to her adolescent identity crisis search for a new name, lol.

Scarlett Anne
Scarlett Eleanor
Scarlett Grace
Scarlett Heather (though that could be taken as a pun)
Scarlett Mariah
