Nov. 15th, 2007 06:55 amWhich do you prefer, Gillian or Jillian?
I'm due in May, with triplets. The hubby and I both like the name, but I like the G spelling, and he likes the J spelling. We're still pretty indecisive about other names (we're not finding out the sexes -- so we need three girl and three boy names), and since we both like Gillian, we figured we could use it as a sort of building block. We want their names to be similar, but not too matchy.
Any suggestions for names that could go well with Gillian? We like classic names, that aren't extremely popular and aren't (too) kr8tyiv.... Like Eleanor instead of Elizabeth, and Brennan instead of Brandon.

Date: 2007-11-15 01:17 pm (UTC)Gillian could be read as Gh-illian, with a G sound as in 'guitar', whereas Jillian leaves no doubt. I think the J spelling looks more modern and the G spelling more traditional.
Jillian Marie
Jillian Francis
Jillian Alice
Jillian Rebecca
these are the first that come to mind :)

Date: 2007-11-15 03:16 pm (UTC)Jillian with a J is beautiful! I also like Eleanor and Brennan. Max (short for Maxwell) was the first name that came to mind when I tried to come up with a sibset for Jillian.

Date: 2007-11-16 12:17 am (UTC)You could use a combination of J's, soft G's, and hard G's to keep them similar-without-necessarily-matching. Especially if some of them, like Genevieve, use more of a zh sound than a proper soft G (unless you pronounce it JEN-ah-veev, which is fine, too).
Gemma, Genevieve, Geoffrey
Gregory, Grier, Garret
Jennifer, Joshua, Jordan
