[identity profile] sex.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames

My boyfriend and I are expecting our first child in mid-June of 2008. We have established long, long before I found out I was pregnant, that we were going to have the middle name (regardless of sex) "Jordan" - after a very close friend of ours that passed away last year.

I'm finding it somewhat difficult to find names that "match" Jordan. He picked out "Trey Jordan" for a boy. I'm not sure if I'm absolutely crazy about it. A girl at work suggested "Mckenzie Jordan" for a girl.

Anybody have any suggestions? We want a unique name, but nothing too crazy. Something we can pronounce. :)

Try this site:

http://www.babynamegenie.com/baby-first-names/

You can put in the middle and last name and the sex of the baby. It comes up with different names that you can try out.

McKenzie is too trendy to be unique, I think.

Mckenzie Jordan is pretty far from unique. Very trendy-common actually. Trey is... ok. It feels a little, I don't know, Nascar to me.

Definitely stay away from Mackenzie if you want it to be unique. Especially not Mckenzie. There definitely needs to be an A in there, and although Jordan is an important name to you, pairing it with yet another very trendy name for girls is probably not a good idea. Trey Jordan is okay, but kind of...blah. Plus, Trey seems like either a name for a little kid, or for a really rich/snooty guy.

I would stay away from Mckenzie Jordan. Individually, I like both names, but since both are unisex, it's hard to tell the gender of the child with two names that can go either way. So if it's a boy, make sure to use a name that is really only being used on boys (Taylor would be out), and for a girl, same thing, something more feminie.

Try three-syllable names with Jordan, they seem to flow really well.

I rather like Amara Jordan for a girl (Amara means 'eternal').
