Nov. 7th, 2007 06:44 pmWhat do you think of the name Evelia?
I love Evie, but feel it's too nicknamey to stand on it's own.
Eva is too much like Ava, which I prefer but thanks to the overwhelming skyrocket is a nono..
Evelyn is okay, but it doesn't make me oohh and ahh.
Evangeline is just too long and reminds me of Ms Jolie.
Evelia [prn with simlar emphasis on syllables to Ophelia] has everything I look for in a name. I love the possible nicknames as much [Evie, Vivi, Lia]
It's really flouncy and feminine.
It ends in -ia.
It's not common.
The only issues I have with it are, my other favourite name is Esmé, so two E's would annoy me, like i'd started a trend or something.
I feel like it's a bit too made up- considering I'd never heard it before, kind of made it up and had to check with behindthenames.com .. turns out it's Spanish variant of Eve.
So, thoughts?

Date: 2007-11-07 06:54 pm (UTC)Evie can be a nick name for Eve.
I don't like Evelia because it sounds like Evil-lia.

Date: 2007-11-07 09:51 pm (UTC)I'm pronouncing Evelia Ev-EH-lee-ah, am I any near?
Anyway I love Evangelina, and I like Eva (Eh-vah, not Ee-vah).
I don't feel strongly about Evelia either way.

Date: 2007-11-07 11:03 pm (UTC)Maybe if it was two separate names, for instance I went to school with a Mary Ann--two first names
So instead of Evelia: Eve Lia, you'd get the bonus of two name meanings as well, since Lia is an Italian name.
I dont see two E names as any worse than two flower names and Esme and Evelia are different enough for it to not matter :)
