Inspired by "Do you like any names soley for their meanings?"
Are there any names you like but wouldn't use because of their meanings?

For example, I like James but not it's ultimate meaning of 'supplanter'.

Kennedy
Cameron (though i'm most likely using it as a tribute to someone, but i don't particularly care for the meaning :\)

Hmmm...Maybe Kieran, it means 'little dark one' I love the sound of the name, even though its pronunciation would probably be butchered by everyone where I live :( The meaning isn't terrible but it isn't a plus for me.

Salome, as well. The meaning is 'peace' which is lovely but I would be hesitant to use it b/c of the character in the bible by the same name. Salome in the bible demanded John the Baptists head, i believe by her mother's order as payment for a dance. Not so peaceful, eh?

Only if the meaning is really, really bad, like, "Man who smells horrible and kills babies for fun."

There is no name I really wouldn't use because of the meaning...but that's also because I love it when a name has a great meaning, so my favourite names have it all: good sound, spelling and meaning! =)
But two names I like are Dolores & Soledad, and they respectively mean 'sorrows' and 'solitude', which is kind of sad.

I've always loved Marie/Maria, but I wouldn't use either because of the meaning, "sea of bitterness".

But in Latin 'Maria' just means 'Seas', and that's not bad! =)

I have some of the opposite... I think Trista is a lovely name, but it means "sad"

Who wants to be named "Sad"?

Hmmm....I am torn. I can't say I like the actual meaning behind a lot of my favorite names, but most of them are literary inspired names, so I like the meaning that is linked through the book. Does that make sense, lol?
Like, I love the name Alice, but don't like "Of a noble kin" as a meaning. However, I am pretty sure most people think of Alice in Wonderland, not it's English meaning. ;)
Not sure about my second favorite, Matilda, which means "battle might." That could or could not be cute.

I only care about the way a name sounds. I guess I got that from my parents; my first name can be translated to mean "manly", and I'm a girl.

I adore the name Aja. I love the song and the whole Steely Dan album. But every name website and book says it means Goat.

I always thought Bianca meant white. I still don't like it because of that.

Claudia means Lame or Crippled and Cecilia means blind. I liked both of them until I found that out.

I like Clementine and Felicity solely because of their meanings.

I would never not use a name because of its meaning.
