What do you guys think of the name Grady? Is it made up and/or cre8ive or is it legitimate? I heard it on Catch & Release the other night and I've kind of taken a shine to it. Only a small shine, but a shine none the less.

It IMMEDIATELY makes me think of The Shining.

i knew a Grady who was the lead singer of a band... he was a really nice guy. so i have a good association with the name. that's been quite number of years, though, so i'd basically forgotten about it until i heard it on Catch & Release (that movie was way better than i thought it would be, btw!), which reminded me of it.

i like it, but it makes me think of "grate" when i say it. which makes me think of something a little harsh for a name.

yeah, i was definitely surprised. i laughed quite a bit throughout it, but it was also pretty touching in the end.

I kinda like it. I used to babysit for a boy named Grady (who would be in gr 6 or 7 now), his siblings all had really weird names too.

my 2 cents

I don't think it's creative, but because it's my uncle's name and his brothers are John, David, Marshall, and Darrell (my dad), and so I doubt they picked Grady to be creative. :-P But that's just because I grew up thinking it was a more plain, traditional name. I think it's a good name especially since you don't hear it much, but it's not a name I would think was "made up".

Not a fan, mostly because it reminds me of "Tremors 2: Aftershocks" but it is a legit name.

My aunt was going to name my cousin Grady, and at the time I HATED it, but then I met someone named Grady and became accustomed to it. They kid was a pot head drunk bastard at the time, but now he has really turned himself around. I like it, but I don't think I'd ever use it.

I can only think of it as a last name, as I've known several people who have it as a last name. I really don't like it as a first name

The name Grady will forever remind me of this character in "North & South", it's the only time I've come across it - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-0oiGaWETM

hmmm it's very "The Shining" to me. isn't that the name of the former caretaker in that movie?

aside from that association for me, it's ok. I like Brady a lot which is similar, though it sounds like "grate-y" which bugs me a little.

sorry if that was a bit scattered. :)

Same here. And I don't like Brady at all, so this is even worse ;)

I do not like it. :( Probably because it is similar to Brady and I loathe that name. XD Or probably due to the fact that it is the name of a restaurant where the food is SUCK. (Grady's BBQ in Shreveport, Louisiana.)

It sounds like a serial killers name to me. It has a brutal quality. I don't like it.

I agree with the above poster, it does sound like a serial killer waiting to happen.

Also, the Shining connotations are strong.

I don't like it because it reminds of the word 'grade' and it doesn't make much sense for a name.
