[identity profile] requiem-morrow.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
Good Evening!

First let me say I'm sorry if my randomness is annoying. I really don't plan to have kids for awhile but I've been interested in the study of names for years. I figured there are enough name geeks on the list that I fit in without a baby in the oven:) So, if the name geek in you is interested, here's my (joking) theory - the more whacked out your name is, the more likely you are to committ crime. Now, I work in juvenile justice and it seems that my theory is proven on a daily basis.

** Edit** I should mention that these are kids 10-17 years old, with an average age of 15...and we're in Texas.

These are some of our recent additions:

Garren
Damondraniqua Tauriell
Princess Alicia
Comodrick
Damariea Deshawn
Resco Martez
Tykeven Kierre
Nallely Rocio
Yajaira Yulina
Jaceob
Lizvette
Lensi Jean

Now.....for those of you who think you can prevent future crime by giving your kid a "normal" or "classic" name, here are some of the recent additions:

Caris
Baron
Desmond
Nigel
Henry
Glenn
Edwin
Lionel
Edward
Edgar
Edwin
Joanna
Donald
Victoria
Brett
Vincent
Franklin
Trevor
Leslie
Charles
Rebecca
Daisy Abigail
Rodney
Ronald Charles
John
Joshua
Anthony
Alexander
Cody
Aaron
James
Jeremy
Christopher
Robert

In an experimental upset, it would appear that I have disproved my own hypothesis!

The moral of the story is.....names don't commit crime, people with names commit crime.

:)

Ahh, but you would have to take into consideration the number of people with ridiculous names versus the number of people with classic names. It may be your theory is still correct, because there are far more people with "normal" names, so a greater percentage of bizarro names may be committing crimes, even if the straight-up number is lower.

it sounds like something I'd name a very fluffy white kitty with blue eyes.
Actually, I must confess, I want to name my next fluffy white kitty Princess Allen after my husband, LOL
joke names for real names, not so good!

of course the real correlation tends to be between education and crime, and often bad name spellings are also correlated with dumb names.
