what are some names that you just really dislike or despise for whatever reason? i'm not talking about names like dick, which i'm pretty sure, most people do not favor..just normal names, common names, unique names, etc. mine are under the cut. i hope no one gets offended if their name is on my list. i'm just curious as to which names people really don't like. feel free to agree/disagree with my list as well. :) ♥

but i agree with dwayne dwight donald glenn randy roger wade....ugh they're like midwestern names of the 80's. and i say that because a lot of people at my church in minnesota in the 80's had those names, heh.

I've always hated the girl names Regina ,Casey (for male or female), Lacy, Macy (anything that sounds like those!)
For boys, I was never too fond of Doug, Douglas, Richard (because of 1 particular person!) or Ronald.
There are others of course but those are the top of my list!

Others I dislike: Raven, Anne, Lena, Becky, Angela/Angel/Angelina, Maggie. Boys: Levi, Louis, Frank, Charles, Donald, Bryson, Mitchell. There are others, but it's getting late and i'm drawing a blank.

I don't like place names:
Dakota, Savannah, Houston, Kennedy, Cheyenne, Cleveland, Dover, Branson, Clovis, Tiffany, Dallas, Casper, Paris, Brooklyn, Aspen, Denver, Baylor...(and yes, I've known people who have named their kids these names. I'm not making these up. Except Paris but we all know who that is.)

I like those names for pets. :)

The place names I DO like that are debatable as place vs. names are: Austin, Trenton, Sydney, Athena, Jackson

The unusual exceptions: Eden, London, Devon, Ireland (love those)

Don't know why. I guess because I have a fear that someday my child will be in a school of all place-named children and it will be more like an airport... :)

Aww, I like the names Beau and Allegra. And some of those names I think are cute on certain people, but I don't particularly like. But that's alright, we all have our opinions haha.

I dislike these names (boys and girls are all mixed up): Duane, Wayne, Wade, Naomi, Mildred, Dan/Daniel, John, Billy, Bobby, Barbara, Debra (or any variation), Carol, Eileen, Irene, Bruce, Dustin, all those -aden/-ayden/-aiden names, Dakota, Ernest, Earl, Wally, Eugene, Karen, Candace/Candi, Tiffany, Stephanie, Jodie, Lenore....yeah, I think you can sort of get the picture.

I have subcategories :)

*Nevaeh, because it just goes aganist everything I appreciate in a name. Not into made up names in general, but that's the biggest example. (I have a thing about names needing to mean something and have history)

*Names for girls starting with Mac/Mc or ending in son. Those prefixes/endings mean 'son of', so it's just wrong.

*Creative spellings of anything rub me up the wrong way. With common names it's just an administrative nightmare, with unusual names it's pointless, for word names I just want to curl up and cry (unless it's legit, e.g Skye as that's a place).

*Casey, Morgan, in fact pretty much all unisex names, on girls. Though I adore them for a boys (indeed my boy bunny's name is Casey)

*Very religious/ethnic names used by people not of that religion/ethincity for some trivial reason like 'they sounded cool'.

*All the names my parents like and/or used, which as you can imagine is rather unfortunate. Well actually I like my brother's name. [Sage is not my given name, obviously]

*Nicknames as full names, or anything else rather cutesy. Fine for a baby, not so great when they're a thiry year old lawyer.

Am generally more easy going about boys name.

Ooooh man. I hate Peter, Dennis, and Mike (personal reasons). I hate the spelling of Geoffrey, but I like Jeffrey.

And I agree with Brenda and Brianne/Brianna. I get called those ALLLL the time when my name is in fact Brenna, so I have a personal vendetta against those names.

I'm not a fan of Jennifer, Jessica, Melissa, Amanda, or those very popular names, either. I can't keep track of all of the ones that I know anymore.
