Hi, my name is Sarah.
I'm thinking of writing a story where I want to reference my experience of the world and her sister having the same name,
but without going as far as actually calling the main character Sarah.
Any ideas for other ubiquitous English names?

I second Anne. Also Elizabeth, Emily, or Jane.

Anne may be common, but how many people do you know actually named Anne? Elizabeth would work better, or Emily, or Hannah or Jennifer, I think.

I actually know a lot of people named Anne! But I suppose it varies. :-) I agree that Hannah would be nice, but Jennifer sounds too modern to stand in for Sarah to me.

What about Jessica? But honestly Emily would be the best choice.
