So I decided today I like the name Evangeline, nick name Evie (so cute). While I really like Evangeline, I also feel like it's "too much name". Would you use it?

I love Evangeline, but I don't like the nn Evie for it. EV and EEEEV are just two different sounds.

I would use it, if my last name wasn't already riddled with Vs. There's a lovely Longfellow poem called Evangeline.

I hate that name. I can't even put my finger on why, but it just...ugh. It IS too much name, but there's something else about it, too.

I love Evie, though. I like it better as a nickname for Evelyn.

I think it's just classic.

I love Evelyn and the nn Evie.

I gotta agree with Evelyn sounding old. Blech... Evangeline is much better imo

I hate it too. The something else for me is mostly about how it's kind of pseudo-virtuous, because it's got the whole angel thing going on but it's also really extravagant (you all said it pretty well with "too much name), so it seems to be setting itself up for hypocrisy to me.

I LOVE Evie. It's such a cute nickname. Evangeline is okay, though it makes me think of "evangelical", which makes me sad.

One of my friends plans on naming her first daughter Genevieve (JEN-ah-veeve) and calling her Evie, if you're looking for other thinks Evie could be short for.

I love it. I have ever since I read Uncle Tom's Cabin in grade 8.

It's a beautiful name, and if you think it's too much for every day use, that's what nicknames are for! ;)

I really like it, partly because of the Acadian thing. I agree that it does sort of seem like 'too much' of a name, though. But it could definitely be shortened to 'Evie', which is a nice nickname.

What made you decide on Evangeline? (You know I love your reasoning behind things...and I'm just nosy hee hee)

I think it's pretty, very pretty. I think it's kind of long though. Evie is a total cutie nickname. It's classic. Overall I'd say it's a really good name it's just a tad long for me.

Sure I'd use it. it's actually really growing on me as of late, so I would recommend it, especially if you'd use Evie as a nn, it should solve the too-long-a-name problem

I don't like the name Evangeline.

I know a girl who goes by Evie (pronounced EE-vee if that's what you meant) but I don't know what her full name is. I don't think it's Eve and I know it's not Evangeline. It's funny, though, because her last name rhymes with Evie.

I love the name Eve, so I'd just use Evie as a nickname for that. I discussed my feelings on Evangeline further up the thread.

I looooooove Evangelina, I would use it if I could find a nn that I like, because I'm really not fond of Eva/Evie nor Angie, but I'd love to have it as a middle name for Jade!
Jade Evangelina is one of my top combinations ever!!
I don't think it's too much name, it's not much longer that Elizabeth, for example

love it! The fact that it is a lot of name doesn't really bother me, considering that two of my favorite names are Annabella & Clementine.

Evelyn's great too.

It's a pretty name, but not one that I'd use, personally.
