Bronwyn Weber has forever ruined the name Bronwyn for me. She is so. freakin. irritating! :(

I used to like that name. :(

Also, a girl I used to work with has a sister named Beatrice. They pronounce it as Bee-at-triss. Odd!

Beatrice doesn't seem that odd to me...maybe it could be considered a bit 'old'...but definitely not uncommon.

Bee-uh-triss & Bee-at-triss sound the same in my head. Or is the emphasis on the AT?

in my head, it depends on whether she's being nasal on the 'uh' sound.
But otherwise they sound very much the same to me too

Yes they sounded the same to mee too - so there is an 'a' sound as in the word cat?

That is strange

I've never heard it pronounced anything other than Bee-uh-triss. Where are you from?

Wait. Nevermind. Um, I read that wrong, lol. I thought you were saying that you'd never heard it said as anything other than Bee-at-triss, which I thought was weird. You can ignore me, I just woke up from a TylenolPM induced coma.

Ugh that sucks, do know what you mean.

Yeah that is odd, I've always heard it more like beer-triss.

I completely dislike the pronunciation Bee-AT-triss, I've always heard it Bee-uh-triss. A friend of mine named her daughter (note the spelling):
BeaTrice O'livia.
I was like are you kiiidding me. Sweet way to screw up a potentially cute name.

I adore the name Bronwyn and I've no idea who Bronwyn Weber is, so I'm safe!

I pronounce Beatrice Bee-a-triss - I think most people in the UK do.

Ditto ???

If she is that irritating, I guess I am glad that I don't know...
