I met a little baby named Luna at work.

Her brother? Thomas.

I half don't get it and half want to make her radish earrings. *

* A Harry Potter reference. A character named Luna Lovegood wore fantastic radish earrings.

Hahahahahaha, I had the same thought about the radish earrings.

On one hand, I think it's pretty out there, but on the other...it could be worse. I do kind of like it, but I can't get past the "Looney" connotations.

When I read the name Luna, I always immediately think of radish earrings. I think it's going to be pretty common that way. I don't hate the name Luna, but I don't want to associate a child with radish earrings.

Luna is cute =)
It's getting more and more popular here though (HP, anyone? ;))...it was ranked #38 in the top 250 last year.

Luna is the italian word for moon.
As Stella is the word for 'star' and also a first name, you can find girls named that in Italy, although Stella is more common.

I like how Luna sounds, also because "l'una" in italian refers to "one o'clock", but literally translates into "the one".
I'm weird, I know :P

but I feel left out because I didn't catch the radish earrings reference :P

hehe, I didn't even get that far :P
I religioulsy abstained from watching any of the movies until, like, the 4th one was out, then that's when I watched the 1st and decided I definitely didn't see what was the big deal about it, so I dropped it there :P

Same here, had to rely on the HP comment up there to just sort of assume.

yeah, I'm sorry I didn't comment overtly on that part earlier, I made the comment about the name in Italy to say that here getting a sibset named Luna and Tommaso wouldn't be awkward, although here too Tommaso (like Thomas) is a lot more common than Luna

I have radish earrings! I love Luna as a character, and think it fits her well, but I don't see myself ever naming my child after her.
