My son is due January 28th and my mind has been set on Skyler since i was about 7 weeks pregnant, but my family does not like the name at all and thinks he will get teased for it.
what do you guys think of...
Skyler Alexander Patrick Meisner?
the "A" name can change its just because my parents want trhe initials SAM, and then patrick wont go on his birth certificate but i wil give him that name through my church in rememberence of my grandfather.

what do you guys think?
and any ideas for names that sound good with skyler?

SAM are cute initials, but why do your parents want that so badly? I love the name Skyler! In the end, the child is yours, not theirs. I dont think he would get teased for it. Its become a fairly common name, so kids are probably used to the fact that people are named Skyler. I dont see a Skyler getting any more teased than a Jason or Mary.

Well, the initial name thing isn't that bad of an idea. My husband wanted to name our son James, after his step-dad. The only thing was that hus step-dad has a son named James, so three James' would get rather confusing... So we named him James Ethan Taddonio so that we could call him Jet if it were to get too confusing.

I love the Alexander Patrick, but I'm not crazy about Skyler at all. It's your kiddo though, and Skyler is becoming a very popular name and I doubt he would get made fun of for it. I like classic names so I'm not so partial to it, but it's a cute name but not something I'd name my child.

This is exactly why we are not telling the family the names we've chosen till our little one is born so no one butts in and asks and gives their opinions when they're not wanted. ;) We plan on telling them the name once they come to visit us in the hospital after the baby is born.

I have a friend named Schuyler Harris Smith. I've always loved that spelling for Skyler.

I adore the name Skylar. It sounds very flowy with the 'A' middle name.

I love the name Skyler. My sister's friend named her son Skyler.

"Schuyler" is too weird spelling.

I prefer Schuyler for a boy, since little girls are so often named "Skylar" these days, but what the hell, it's a good name no matter how you spell it :)

Skyler is a girls name to me, although I do know a little boy with the name. I've only seen it spelled Skylar, though. Also, it's your child, don't let your parents convince you of what to name him. It's all your decision :)

Hmm my daughter's name is Skylar and my son's middle name is Alexander :)
I like the name you've chosen and even if your family doesn't-the choice is really up to you and your SO.

In the elementary school I work in there are more Skylers for boys than girls, and they are spelled that way too. So your spelling isn't farfetched.

The Skyler who comes to mind is named Skyler Nicholas.

I think Skyler is a very cute name for a boy. Not too many people liked my name, but I used it anyway. He's my son afterall. :)

i like the name...as others have said - it's your child and you should name him whatever makes you happy...even if he doesn't have the initials SAM you could still give him a nickname and let that be used in school if he gets made fun of - which i doubt because Skyler is becoming more popular...but if he does then it's normal because every kid is gonna have their name made fun of at one time or another

your parents want the initials to be SAM? if you like the middle name patrick, and the A name isn't anthing you particularly like, use the name you want and forget about the initials!

I ♥ the name Schuyler (I prefer that spelling, haha).

You don't have to listen to your parents...you're the one that's naming the kid...that's how I see it.

I also prefer Schuyler as a boy's name with Skyler/Skylar as a girl's name. I don't understand why people are so stumped by the pronunciation. It's just like the words guy or buy.

The initial idea is cute, but don't do it just because your parents want it. They named their kids, you get to name yours. If you prefer Skyler Patrick Meisner, so be it.

Good luck.
