What do you think of the name Brett on a girl? I'm usually not one for liking boys-names-on-girls, but Brett has been pretty unisex for a while now (there is a female character named Brett in Hemingway's The Sun Also Rises), and it's starting to grow on me.

I actually know a girl, in her mid 20s, who uses Brett has a nickname for Elizabeth. I really like it, because it's a less feminine option (and yet still not 100% masculine) for a nickname while still giving her the option of being called Liz or Libby or Beth if she so chooses.

I doubt I'd use it, but what do you think of Elisabeth with the nickname Brett?

I like Brett as a nick name for Elisabeth better than I like Brett as a name on its own.

I like the name Betsy for a nickname for Elizabeth. And I like Elizabeth spelled with a "z"... but that's because it's my middle name. LOL

On another note, I like your icon. :)

I think it's rather creative (in the good way) :)
but I'm not a fan of Brett because it's kind of close to 'brat'

It's a decent nick-name, though I prefer Elizabeth over Elisabeth. Elisabeth should be pronounced Elizabet, not Elizabeth.

Elisabeth is the German form of Elizabeth, where it's pronounced Elisabet. I have no idea why (I don't speak German, just a huge fan of the musical Elisabeth) but I would guess that the letters "th" in German don't make the same sound they make in English.

I wouldn't call Brett a unisex name. I've never heard it on a girl, and it sounds completely masculine.

On baby names sources it is listed for both sexes

All I know is, where I come from "brett" is currently a slang term for bad breath, so I can't really see it as a name at all on either sex.

I like Brett as a nickname for Elisabeth. I am really into unexpected nicknames for common names.

I know a girl named Brett and she is drop dead gorgeous. So I think its quite cute for a girl now.

I'm not fond of the name Brett, but the only Brett I've ever known was a girl in elementary school, so I don't mind it as a feminine name. I think it would make a good nickname for Elisabeth. :)

I love Elisabeth with an S I think it looks elegant. I'm not entirely sure that I like Brett on a girl but by giving her a feminine full name then if she really hated Brett she could revert back to that.
