This is more of a discussion on stereotypes of names (like what makes a name "sexy"), but a lot of you will probably find it interesting:

heh, it matches my question from a recent post :D
I do agree that in our mental scenario some names are associated to certain traits and some to others. Now, how much of that depends on cultural elements is sometimes hard to tell. Apart from names that have been linked for decades to the same stereotype (ie. Heidi from the children story, Donald for Donald Duck, Joe for Average Joe), where the association is pretty obvious, there are others that only suggest to the mind, and what they evoke is probably very personal.
I, for one, am very intrigued by this individualistic level :)

Um, I think the name Hilary is much sexier than Amelia, Penelope, and Naomi. Those three sound like old lady names.

Even though I have an aunt named Naomi, I always think "floozy" when I hear that name...because of Mama's Family.
