Cabbage Patch Kids
Oct. 18th, 2007 02:56 pmI was just watching my daughter today playing with my old Cabbage Patch Kid (I've had her 24 years) and started thinking about the names of these dolls. My doll came with the name Ida Adriana. Now, when I was 7 and was given this doll I remember initially being quite disappointed with the name but I didn't change it and now I quite like it. So I was just wondering, has anyone else had a Cabbage Patch Doll and what was it's name?

Date: 2007-10-18 05:36 am (UTC)I named all of my toys when I was younger (and still do). Here's a short list of some I remember:
Zoey - the bear I have had since I was a baby. Don't know where the name came from.
Tiffany Louise, Jessie, Thomas, Zach (after the power-ranger), Ashley (after MK and Ashley Olsen), Lucy (after the Hanson song), Bridget - all dolls
More recently: Artan, Raphael, Dragon - stuffed animals from my bf

Date: 2007-10-18 11:49 am (UTC)The Cabbage Patch Birthing Ceremony
Dolls are "birthed" every hour during business hours in a procedure during which one of the resident "nurses" aids the Magic Crystal Tree in producing each doll.
With her are the pink and blue bunnybees that pollinate the kids with crystals, determining if the newborn is a boy or girl.
The nurse comments on how much the Tree is dilated and injects with "Imagicillin," an "experimental but highly recommended" drug.
If the need arises, a "C-section" or "Cabbage section" may be administered.
After the doll is successfully birthed, the audience is asked to provide suggestions for the its first two names--the third of which is always that of the adopter.
These names are then recorded on its certificate and on a name tag, and the doll takes a place among the hundreds that inhabit the facility's nurseries and play environments.
A full-featured Intensive Care Unit is in place to handle premature births and otherwise unhealthy newborns.

Date: 2007-10-18 02:29 pm (UTC)I've been a couple times growing up/taking friend's kids and it's kinda interesting, but they do come up with wacko names.
and those dolls are SUPER expensive (like $300-400), but they are completely different and much much nicer than the mass produced ones in boxes, my friends have some

I don't think that any of them are horrible. :)

Date: 2007-10-18 04:51 pm (UTC)I think I might have had a cabbage patch kid, but I don't know what its name was. I basically ignored the thing, because I was born in 1988, and I think the cabbage patch fad was on its way out by the early nineties. :-\
