Brothers Seamus and Patrick (maybe 4 and 2ish and there was a baby bro whose name I didn't get).

A Gianna. A Katie.

Brothers Tanner and Dylan (mabye 3 and 5 respectively).

I personally like all these names especially Gianna right now.

the one name though that I could not, can not, abide by? the little girl (about 4 or 5, blond pigtails swinging away) named Buchanan.

It's probably a family name or something but I just do not like it.

other opinions?

Buchanan??

How on earth is that even pronounced?

I personally really like Seamus and Dylan.

Oh! I was hoping it might have a really pretty pronunciation to make up for the spelling...

Apparently not!

Well I can't say I'm a fan of the name.

Buchanan is a pretty common Scottish-Gaelic surname, but I don't see how it would fit a girl :/

Maybe her mom watched one too many "One Life to Live" episodes.

I don't get Seamus. It's mean, so so so cruel. I don't get it! Poor kid, his brother has a normal name!

I love Dylan... Buchanan is weird.

The spelling is somewhat unfortunate but it's pronounced Shay-mus..right? So I don't think it's such a bad name.

Yes I believe so, I pronounce it this way because of the Harry Potter character.

One of the newscasters on Canada AM is named Seamus..so that's where I've heard it.

Shay-mus makes me think of shame. And the spelling makes me think of semen.

Usually, but I knew a guy who's name was pronounced SHAW-muss.

It's a traditional Irish name, and maybe because of that, I don't consider it cruel at all. Particularly with Patrick for a sibling, my guess is the family has Irish roots.

Unless they live in Ireland, I don't think it's ok. If they're Irish and whatever, make it a middle name.

Agree to disagree and all that, I suppose. I think it's ridiculous that culturally-significant names should only be used in the country of origin. We'd all be named Sara and Mary around here in the US, then, since most of the names we currently use came from other countries/cultures.

I don't think that all culturally significant names should stay in the culture of their origin or whatever, please. I'm just saying that it's not going to be recieved the right way here. Patrick is a culturally significant name that is recieved the right way here, in my opinion Seamus just really isn't going to, and therefore I find it mean for people to use it.

i always say Seamus with an Irish accent, i can't help it LOL... it's one of the little twin brother piglets on Pigglywinks, Sean & Seamus, i love it. haha.

& Buchanan is the maiden name of a good friend of mine's mother. actually, i think that my friend's middle name is actually Buchanan as well.

I love the names Seamus and Patrick! Those are such cute names on brothers, I think.

P.S. Whenever I hear the name Buchanan, I always think of either Pat Buchanan, or James Buchanan, the guy who was President before Abraham Lincoln. Neither is a very good association;)

I like the idea of some last names as first names but Buchanan is just too much.

*gags on Buchanan.* Totally gross name, especially for a little girl. I don't know how you can look a beautiful brand new baby girl and saddle her with something awful and masculine like that, Kennedy, McKinley, or any other tacky surname just because you think it's trendy and upscale. I so wanna puke.

I thought of the McKinley one, too, reading this. Is this the season for people to inspect the bronze nameplates on portraits of deceased white men with whiter hair and monocles/cigars and say "Yes! My DAUGHTER's namesake!" ??

rofl. I guess it is. At least it's somewhat better than the recent trend of scarfing alphabits and then vomiting them back up into the bowl and choosing a name that way. "Awww, it's Jaeylyyyinne!!!!"

I know a Seamus, and he's the coolest so that makes me like the name too. Sounds really good with Patrick too, solid handsome names.

Gianna & Dylan are great too.
I like Kate, but not Katie (seems childish).
Tanner is OK, bit bland and trendy though.

Nah I'm not keen on Buchanan either, just can't picture it as a first name.
