So I'm due to give birth anytime now. (My due date is actually tomorrow.) We are planning on naming our baby girl Imogen. First question, what is your honest opinion of that name. Not that it would change our minds, considering plenty of people have voiced their opinion that they do not like the name, but I'm still interested in hearing your opinions of the name. (Be honest, I promise not to cry if you say you hate it for whatever reason.)

Another question, we still haven't picked out a middle name. What do you think goes well with Imogen and a last name that starts with Mc?

I'm thinking about Claire/Clare because my grandfather's name is Clarence and I'd like her to be named after a family member. I'm not positive if I like it, and I'm also not sure which spelling to go with if I do end up choosing that.

So that's 3 questions:

1. What do you think of the name Imogen?
2. What middle name would go well with that?
3. If I were to choose Claire/Clare, which spelling is better?

Actually, I have a question. How is the name pronounced? I think of it as Im-oh-gene. Is that right?

In any case it reminds me of Imogen Heap (the singer) but I really like her music, so that's not a bad thing for me.

I think I like it. It's different but it's still a real name.

I think Claire goes fairly well with the name, and I prefer the spelling Claire. =]

firstly, love Imogen. secondly, love Claire and they go well together IMO. I personally prefer Claire as well, but would advise you to chose Clare to honor Clarence as they are more similar. gl. :)

Imogen is good. I'm pretty neutral about it. Which is positive, haha.

I think Imogen Claire sounds really good, actually. I'd spell it 'Claire', because 'Clare' seems more masculine to me.

I really don't like the name at all. I don't know why, I can't really put my finger on it, but the name just totally turns me off. I feel the same way about Siobhan, Emma, etc.

I LOVE Clare, though. Claire and Clare are both really nice, but I think I like Clare better. Either one is fantastic:)

I love Imogen. The only thing I don't like about it is a co-worker's nickname "Imo" (pronounced Eye-mo). It's not the most natural nickname, though, so unless your daughter adopted it herself (or you like it), people likely wouldn't call her that :)

I prefer Claire, but the family tie to "Clare" is nice.

Out of Clare and Claire, I vote Clare. It looks more classic and less like the accessory store.

I like the idea of Imogen... it's a classic and interesting. However, I don't like it... aesthetically. The sound and the look aren't pretty to me. Aesthetics are different for everyone though and I think "classic" is more important than "pretty", so I'll give a thumbs up.

Claire and Clare are both lovely. I think either is a fine middle name for Imogen.

i would never personally use imogen for god knows why, but i think it is a perfectly wonderful name. i really like it a lot. and i think imogen clare mc... is a fabulous name. i prefer claire with an i, but like the family association with clare. good luck! :)

Imogen Claire is beautiful, and I prefer this spelling of Claire, but the other spelling would make more since if you're using it to honor your grandfather.
