I've seen this name thrown around quite a bit in this community, but can't actually recall a secular post on the name.

So, what do you guys think?
Is it getting too trendy? Does it remind you of cats?

I've named a character Sophie Oliver; I prefer it as a surname, but no, it doesn't remind me of cats. (Though Oliver is a pretty kickass cat.)

I like it, I think Olly is really cute but I think it is becoming really trendy and would probably never use it. Maybe for a middle name..

Plus there was that really annoying guy named Oliver on the OC. =P

I like it. It does seem to be getting pretty popular, but I'd rather see eight thousand little boys named Oliver than eight thousand little boys named Cooper, or Cannon, or something equally horrible.

I *LOVE* the name Oliver! I'm afraid that it has become just too popular for my tastes.

Oliver is soooo cute! It's not very popular in my area as I don't seem to recall ever knowing an Oliver!

i met an oliver in the late 90s, an adorable sprite of a boy with TONS of energy and i fell in love with it then. it has shifted on my tops list many times (between oliver and max, they take turns at number one) i know people are saying its trendy, but its more classic to me. and aside from that one little boy, i dont know any olivers, and havent seen olivers in the birth announcements.

As a history geek, I love the fact that it reminds you of Oliver Cromwell.

Its my favorite male name! It was the first name I was ever obsessed with all those years ago...probably since like 4th grade when I met my first Oliver.

Oliver is the main character in a book I'm writing at the moment. He goes by Olly though!
