[identity profile] herminia.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
I’m not expecting—or expecting to be expecting any time in the next, oh, decade—but I’ve always loved baby names and I'm feeling a little under the weather today (falling down a flight of stairs will do that to you!), so time is on my side and I thought I’d run my favorites by you all.

For girls, I love the names Margaret/Maggie, Gwendolyn/Gwen, Liza, Lydia/Lydie, Linnea (lovely, but wouldn't use), Sylvia/Sylvie (probably wouldn't use), Adell, Eva, Matilda, Clara, Cecilia, Eugenia, Rose, Amelia, Kirsten/Kit, Violet, Jane, Miriam, Elsa, Lane, and Bridget. For boys, I like Jesse, William/Will, Samuel/Sam, Max, James (or Jameson, maybe?), Asa or Ezra (probably wouldn't use either, but I like 'em), Isaac, Caleb, Adrian, and Nathan/Nate/Nat. My absolute favorites are Maggie (Margaret), Liza, Eva, Jesse, and Sam (Samuel). My fiancé is very fond of Dean, Dylan (a tribute to Bob, of course), Samuel/Sam, and William/Will for boys, and Eleanor/Ella, Claire, and Margaret/Maggie for girls. I haven't thought about middle names at all, so if you have any suggestions, feel free to post 'em.

Edited to add: For the record, our names are Sarah and Clarke (which rules out using "Clara," because it'd look like we were trying too hard to blend our names into our kids and I sort of hate that!)

Amelia
Jane

William
Sam
James (not Jameson)
Adrian
Nathan

I basically really like all of your names, because they're classic and simple, which is generally my type when it comes to names.
This is probably a long stretch, but do you guys watch Heroes?

Exactly. Which is why I completely love your list. It works on little babies, up to kids, up to adults. It's perfect. :)

Well, this is just the geekiness that is me, but Adrian Pasdar plays Nathan Petrelli on the show. Basically that and Claire, aha.

My fiance's name is Adrian, and I'm planning to name our future possible son Jonathan 'Jonah' Ezra, only because our surname will be Evans, and Ezra Evans is a bit ehh.. I love it though.

Shame I'm taking his name, else his name would be Ezra Wild ;)

For girls, I love Margaret, Liza (although I prefer Eliza), Lydia, Clara, Amelia, Jane, and Bridget.

For boys, I LOVE Sam (my favorite!), Jesse, William, Max, James (NOT Jameson!), Ezra, Isaac, Caleb, and Nathan. So yeah...mostly all of them!

Eleanor and Claire are two of my favorites for girls. Eleanor is #2 on my list and I've always really liked Claire, but it'd be the odd man out with all the three-plus syllable names I plan on using.

I don't particularly like Dylan because of it's popularity, but I think it's awesome to use it after Bob Dylan...just maybe as a middle name? I really like Samuel Dylan or Isaac Dylan, and I think it sounds good with all of them. Then it's not so trendy because it's not about fitting in, it's about using a name that's important to you and he won't be one of 12 in his class.

I really like the sound of both Lydia Jane and Amelia Jane:)

I went to school with a girl named Jadel (JUH-dell). Her mom was Janice and her dad was Delbert. I always thought it was stupid.
