I've decided that I'm going to name my children after flowers. I'm hoping for all girls (fingers crossed). For me my first girl is going to be named Azalea definitely. I also like Gardenia and Freesia and Laelia. I know those aren't usual names but I really love flowers. Another name I like for a girl is Luchia. But if I do have a boy I like the names Helios and Julian. Yes yes I know...julian is kind of normal in comparison...but it's a nice name.

I knew an old man whose name was Potato (yes, Potato), and he said his parents had a lot of kids and all the boys were vegetables, and all the girls were flowers. It was pretty funny. I think as long as you stay away from names like Rose, Tulip, Daisy, you know, obvious flower names, it would be a pretty theme. I like Azalea a lot for a name too.

What are you on about? Why would she 'stay away' from normal, good names like Rose and Daisy?

Because if she does obvious theme names, it's insanely tacky? Think.

As if ANY large group of floral names isn't going to be insanely obvious. People know what a Gardenia is.

Hey, I'm not in favor of this theme, but if she uses out-of-the-ordinary ones it could be at least slightly cleverer than that.

I'm not really sure how to respond to that. Azaleas are very common flowers and same with Irises. I'll give you Alyssa as being less common, but not the other two.

Trust me, I can kill a plant by looking at it. I just also know the names of common flowers. Understandable that you wouldn't have Azaleas in Neptune though.

Not stay away from, as in they aren't pretty names, but if you are going to use a theme that could seem "tacky" to some, maybe be more unique in using flowers that aren't really common to people as in Azalea, Dahlia, or such. I personally think that's the more tasteful way to use a theme when naming your children.

I like the flower names. My grandma's name was Marguerite which means "Daisy". I think it is really pretty and in the flower theme. I also like Zinnia.

I like Julian a lot for a boys name, but Helios seems too similar to me. Maybe it is because it has vowel-L-I-vowel in the middle. I am probably over-thinking this, linguist that I am. :)

Floral names CAN be cute, if not over done. Having more than one child with a floral name is UBER tacky.

I agree, except for when they're pretty normal names like Rose and Iris. I don't think that's tacky at all.

Briallen (bree-AHL-en) from Welsh briallu primrose.
I think that's so pretty!

I love the idea of a flower theme.

I'm considering name my little bump Poppy June?
But personally, I wouldn't do a theme with it. It kinda reminds me of trailer trash names - hope, faith and charity.
iuno, just my opinion.
sorry
