Oct. 14th, 2007 10:52 amEz-mee/Ez-may
I've seen it Esme, Esmé, Esmee, Esmée.. which do you prefer and how would you pronounce them?
I know the accent makes an 'ay' sound, so Es-may would be Esmé.. i'm assuming?
I know an Esmé who uses the pronunctiation Ez-mee.. so did her parents just get her name wrong?
What's your favourite -lia name?
Amelia
Aurelia
Cordelia
Delia
Julia
Lia
Malia
Natalia
Ophelia
Thalia
Anymore i've forgotten?

Date: 2007-10-14 11:53 am (UTC)I always get conflicting views on this! I was going for the Esmé/Ez-mee pronunciation. But then I read the Amélie post and got all confuzzled again!

Date: 2007-10-14 12:12 pm (UTC)Hmmm... I like Aurelia, Cordelia and Julia the best but wouldn't use any of them because they're too much like my name (Amelia).

Date: 2007-10-14 12:36 pm (UTC)Esmee and Esme are the Americanized accentless versions, as is the ez-mee pronunciation. Using ez-mee with Esmé/e, I belive, is just wrong.
I also have Cecilia and Talia (if you consider that different than Thalia) on my list.
