One of my best friends is pregnant (And 17 but thats another story =/)

She has a few names picked out.

What do you guys think of Ayden (Pronounced Aa-din, normally spelled Aiden and usually for a boy) for a girls name?

I don't like the name Aiden anyway..so misspelling it just makes it worse.

Um, it's awful. First of all, the misspelling is horrendous. Second, it's a boy's name. End of story.

It's not great. What about Arden? It's kind of similar.

That's so...unfortunate. Aiden is a mostly masculine name, and Ayden looks ugly to boot.

Please try to talk your friend out of this.

Adding a Y doesn't make it a girl's name. The child would also probably be one of a few Aidans in class, because it's a very popular name.

In short, there a tons of better names out there.

It's everything I dislike in a name!!

I don't like names with the 'ay' sound.
Or names with a 'den' ending!

Ayden = CRAPTASTIC. Spelling a boy name wrong is bad (the correct way is actually Aidan), but butchering it even worse is DISGUSTING.

What about Alice or Audrey? Lovely names. Make her give it a girl name. Seriously. Prod and push until it is named Grace Elizabeth or something. Your best friend's daughter will love her for giving her a feminine name, instead of misspelt trendeigh mishmash.

No. Just... no.

I love Aidan. On a boy. Ayden for a girl is not good.

I love it, personally, but spelled A-I-D-A-N. Go for it.

Why won't people stop naming their kids names that rhyme with Aiden, Brayden, Caden, Jaidyn, etc etc etc. It's sickening!

My sister had a boy and named him Danyel. Why she had to throw that Y in there I don't know. I'm used to it now but don't really like it. Just stick with Aiden I say.

I'm a lot more concerned by the Ayden crap than her age.

I don't think Aiden is such a bad name, for a boy. And the spelling 'Ayden' doesn't horrify me either.
But if I was in her shoes, I'd definitely pick another name. If you want something less girly, there are plenty not-so-girly girl's names out there =)

Vomit worthy, totally. I hate when people do this. Aiden is a BOYS NAME, Tristan is a BOYS NAME. I wish people could be just a little more original and creative, ripping off another gender's name and replacing vowels with something random you pull from your ass does not make it DIFFERENT, CREATIVE, or UNIQUE. It makes the parents look incredibly stupid and illiterate. I pity their kids.

/end rant.

It is a really bad idea to not only misspell Aidan, but misspell the most popular boy's name and put it on a girl.

Absolutely horrid, and if you are a good friend, you will stop at nothing to keep her from using that name for her child.
