[identity profile] livedream.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
I go for my ultrasound on Tuesday to find out the gender.  I am positive that we're having a boy, my husband (and everyone else I know) are positive we're having a girl.  If we have a boy we're all set with a name, if we have a girl we're screwed.  We cant agree on anything.  He likes more masculine names like Morgan and Madison.  I like girly, unique but not crazy names like Jade, or Kaelynne.  So I am enlisting everyone to help figure out a good girls name.  My name is Sarah, so any form of "arah" wont work.  Our last name is King if that helps.  I kinda like the idea of an illiteration (i.e. Kayla Christine King).  My Mom's name is Lynne, so something like Katelynne isnt bad either.  Okay have at it.  Dont go all "out there" on me and give me names that no one has ever heard before but keep it kinda unique.  Thanks for the help!

EDIT:
Just to sum things up again....
~NO "ARAH" names... I'm Sarah, it wont work.
~and the suggestions dont have to be alliterations, they can start with something other than a C or K, I just like that sound, its not necessary.
~I like LynnE in some names because its my Moms middle name, not just for the sake of the name
~dont go too out there, I'm a traditional girl, I just like things somewhat unique

Catherine rhymes with Lynne, not sure if that's enough haha. Good name anyway.
Cara? Cara King has a really nice sound to it.

I like Jade, but I'm not a fan of Kaelynne. It's super trendy and hard to spell (people will always assume it's spelled a different way).

What about....

Kira/Kyra Lynn King
Kaitlyn Jade King
Carly Lynn King
Casey Lynn King
Kelsey Lynn King
Cassia Lynn King
Cara Lynn King

Kelsey Lynne is cool! Kelsey is unisex, so it could content your hubby :)

He likes Madison and you don't mind Lynn so why not go with Madilynn? Or any spelling of that name. Its got his tough sound in the beginning and gets girly at the end.

Jade is very cute. You're not going to find anyone in this community (or many places in the world that exists above a 3rd grade reading level, for that matter) that will agree with any sort of 'creative', 'unique', or other wise butchered, bastardized spellings. Kaylin is ...ok. It's too close to the Jayden-Brayden-Raylen trend for me, but I'm biased, I don't like most names ending in -lynne. Alliteration can be fun, if not abused. I've always loved Kira. Kira Lynne is a fine name. Carly is always a favorite too. Good luck.

What's your choice for boys?

I don't really understand what you're looking for. You say you want something unique, but not "out there". I don't know what your personal definition of "out there" is, so I can only go off of the few names you say you like and my own personal opinion of what "unique" is. I don't find anything unique about Kaelynne or Jade. So I'm just going to list some stuff..

Alaina
Amela
Audrey
Bethany
Bridget
Brooke
Cassidy
Celeste
Charlotte
Eleanor
Emma
Grace
Helena
Jenna
Juliana
Kendra
Lena
Rose
Sienna

Please don't go with something like Madison, or especially Kaelynne. It's super trendy, and in my opinion marks your kid in a bad way. I think there are other similar names that look/sound a lot better. Suggestions:

Jocelyn
Evelyn
Caitlin/Kaitlyn
Catalina
Caroline/Carolina
Cassandra
Mya/Mia
Leah

I support Evelyn! :)

techincally, you can't have something "somewhat unique". the definition of unique is "being the only one, being without a like or equal, distinctively characteristic". you can't have something that's only somewhat the only one.

and jade and kaylynne (and any other spellings) are about as far from unique that you can get these days.

if you want a name that's actually unusual, then you're probably going to have to pick something that's not just misspelled. katelynne, or caitlin, is very common. regardless of spelling.

i can't think of many names that fit both of your tastes and are not super common, but here are few random suggestions:
cassidy
lindsay
jasmine
june
gabrielle
carla
sydney
alison
elaina/elaine
sandra
michaela
rhiannon
molly
addison/adeline (addie is a cute nickname)
stella
bailey
robin/robyn
piper
shiloh
danica
annika
lacey
arden

I second Alison and Sandra, because they're my first and middle names, haha. I know a girl who goes by the nickname Addie, and it's short for Adelaide.

I like Morgan Jade King!

seeing it written, I'm realizing that Morgan - King sounds totally like a boy's name :/
I love Jade, my favorite combo is Jade Evangelina, but maybe that's too feminine for your husband's taste.

I like Carolyn and Madel(e)ine. Please don't go all kr8v on the spelling like in Kaelynne :P I understand that Lynne has sentimental value to you, but it would be best if you sticked to it for a middle name.

I'm not much on alliteration, so my only suggestion as far as that goes is to make sure that the first and middle names don't both begin with a K...
