Hello! I'm new to this community, and I have a question. My husband and I just found out we are having a daughter. We have 2 sons together, and girls do not run in his family. This is really emotional for me, my mom died when I was 19. I never thought I'd get another chance at a mother/daughter relationship again.

I have always loved the name Elizabeth Anne...oddly this is a name my husband has always loved. For 10 years we always knew if we had a little girl, this would be her name. We never thought too much about it, because we never figured a girl would be conceived...so here we are.

My question is...our last name starts with a T. Her initials would be E.A.T. We are worried she will be teased, or hate her name etc. When my mother was in a coma, I told her I would name my daughter after her. So I have decided to use my moms name Marie as her middle name.

I'm not sure how names are normally put together, and I'm not crazy about the 2 middle name thing. So, should we do...

ElizabethAnne Marie T

or

Elizabeth-Anne Marie T

Has anyone had any experiences with this situation? Which would you prefer? We plan on calling her Elizabeth, but we want Elizabeth Anne to be her first name, and middle name Marie. Her initials would be E.M.T. Any opinions? Am I freaking out to much over the initials?

Thanks!

I like Elizabeth Anne =)
Personally, I think the initials your daughter will have, don't really matter. After all, it doesn't spell anything bad. But if it bothers you, Elizabeth-Anne could be a solution. ElizabethAnne looks strange, IMO.
You could also make it Elizabeth Annemarie / Elizabeth Anne-Marie, but that way you won't have your mother's name as a singular middle name.
Could luck choosing a name and hey, congrats on your pregnancy ;)

I don't know of a lot of kids that call each other by their middle names, so I really wouldn't worry about her initials.

I think you're freaking out too much, and Elizabeth Anne is such a beautiful, classic name that the variations are too much.

EAT is a normal, every day word, like RED, ART and MOM. It's not a big deal, and at least it isn't FAT!

I would leave it as Elizabeth Anne Marie. There is nothing that says you can't have two first names. I don't like ElizabethAnne or Elizabeth-Anne. I also like Elizabeth Anne-Marie (or Annemarie).

I think the initials of EAT are fine. As long as it doesn't spell something vulgar, I don't think it'll be a problem! My older stepdaughter has the initials KEG - Katherine Elisabeth G - and once I realized that I said she's going to have a blast with that in college. (Right now she's 11 and has no clue what a keg is...we hope.)

PS I highly endorse the first name Elizabeth, as it's my first name. There are lots of nicknames to be used for that name, too, which is a plus. Since the day I was born, mine's been Liza.

I don't have any problem with initials spelling out things. Most people when they use initials only use the first and last name anyways. And it's always one of those funny things to figure out if your initials spell out anything. I know people who have had ROB, EKG, JAB, CAR... my little sister is MAW.

I do like Elizabeth Anne Marie as three names, though, too. So if you're really concerned it just makes the name even more classic.

I think Elizabeth Anne-Marie would be better. I really dislike hyphenated first names.

Of course, then her initials would be EAT...

I would love to have EKG as initials. Hee.

I had a friend with two brothers. Their initials were WAG, RAG and BAG. I don't think EAT is bad. ElizabethAnne would be a lot to write out when she signs checks and stuff in the future.

If it has to be Elizabeth Anne as a first name then use Elizabeth-Anne. though I think that's a bit of a mouthful. Why not Elizabeth Anne-Marie or just two middle names? You may not be crazy about it but it's easier & better IMO than two first names. Sounds somewhat stuffy.

I suggest Elizabeth Anne-Marie :)

right, how does it go with hyphenated names? doesn't the name after the hyphen count? I thought it would be EAMT

I'd do the two middle name thing. Elizabeth Anne is too much as ONE first name, especially if it's hyphenated. I'd do Elizabeth Anne Marie. The two middle names thing is much easier than the two first names, I think, and EAMT doesn't spell anything.

I love Elizabeth, btw. And I think Liz-Anne might be kind of a cute nickname:)

I think ElizabethAnne shoved together like that looks strange. I think Elizabeth-Anne Marie T. is lovely. But her initials won't be EMT then, they will be EAMT. Which is better honestly because EMT and EAT are both something but EAMT isn't.

Lovely name choice.

We're having the initials problem outselves. For a girl we like Kayla Karen but our last name is K so KKK isnt very cool. BUT- when I was born my parents named me Sarah Autumn M... SAM to use as a nickname, which no one but my Dad does. Now that I am married I am SAK... nice switch huh? lol. Anyway, the whole point is that it doesnt really matter what her initials are now, they'll change eventually!

My step-sister really wanted to include 2 friends in the naming of her child so his name is Chace Matthew Allan C... I think 2 middle names is really cute, especially if they mean something. My Brother in law is Justin Robert Steven C (but everyone calls him Gus- go figure!?)

Good luck with everything but I dont think you should worry too much about what other kids will think. Teach her to hold her head high and be proud of why she's named what shes named and she'll be fine! My choice would be Elizabeth Marie Anne T I think its got a ring to it ;) ♥

well, kids will cling to just about anything, if they're trying to tease someone, so I don't think the name on its own could do much of triggering the jokes ;)
Either way you compose it, it's a lovely name anyway, so no worries :)

that's cool, so your name will be actually sort of matching your daughter's :)

(ps) my cousin's name is Elizabeth and her parents were dead set against her being Liz, Beth, Libby, Lizzy or anything else but one day I was looking in a name book and a nickname for Elizabeth is Belle, which means beautiful and I have been calling her Belle ever since. I've always told her what it means and she loves it that I call her that. She says it makes her feel pretty. Its so uncommon as a nickname for Elizabeth but its so her. Sorry I'm rambling... I'm done now! ♥

I like the Elizabeth Anne-Marie thing. Anne-Marie is my aunts name. And I think it's a lot better to hyphen middle names then first names.

I really adore how Anne-Marie Elizabeth sounds.

I think it flows a little better than Elizabeth Anne-Marie. And if you think about it, her initials would still show up as EAT on a lot of things where they dont acknowledge the second middle name if you chose Elizabeth Anne-Marie.

I would just put "Elizabeth Anne" in the first name spot and then "Marie" in the middle name spot (on the birth certificate).

You don't have to hyphenate anything or combine names to have an Elizabeth Anne Marie.

It's a beautiful name and congratulations on getting a little girl!

Firstly congratulations!

I am not a huge fan of combining names/ the hyphen thing...
But perhaps you could give her two middle names?
I know a lot of people with 2 middle names.
