Oct. 10th, 2007 04:49 pmJust some random names that I like/my best friend likes/I am curious about...
Frank
George
Henry
Jade [This could be cruel...It's a bit of a guilty pleasure name.]
Kurt
Monroe
Roy
Elodie
Helene
Harriette
Hazel [My best friends favourite girl name]
Jenna / Jenny
Margaret
Sarah
Zetta - I've always loved this name. I love the combination of Zetta Rose. However when I looked it up, I discovered that Zetta actually means rose! [It's Portuguese]
Zona - Zoh-Na [Perhaps Zoe for a nickname, but I'm not a huge fan of nicknames anyway]
Also - I saw the name Megan / Meaghan mentioned earlier, and I wondered how people pronounce this.
I know 2 girls with this name, one with each of the above spellings. And they both pronounce their names Mee-Gen [Like the word 'Me']
How do you pronounce this name?

I have noticed that a lot of people care about a far off translation or meaning of a name...is this perhaps something you worry about more in other countries than here.

Date: 2007-10-10 05:02 pm (UTC)George - Not a fan really, but there's nothing wrong with it!
Henry - Love!
Jade - I see this quite easily on a male, even though all the Jade's I know are female! I guess it depends on how he grows into his name!
Kurt - Not a fan. All I'd this about is Kurt Cobain.
Monroe - Again, not a fan - Marilyn Monroe
Roy - I like it, but I can't see it on a little kid!
Elodie - Looks like Melodie, but misstyped!
Helene - Like
Harriette - Prefer just Harriet, but I like it. Love the nn Hattie
Hazel - I don't like it.
Jenna / Jenny - LOVE Jenna, I think it's such a beautiful name! Jenny I don't like as much, maybe because it's more popular.
Margaret - Like, but don't like any of the nn for it!
Sarah - Really don't like. Love Sara though.
Zetta - As far as 'z' names go it's quite nice, but I don't like Z names particularly
Zona - See above, haha!
Megan = Meg-un

Date: 2007-10-10 08:07 pm (UTC)Growing up I knew an older guy named Jade and I thought that was cool. His brother's name was Riel and I was very impressed with them.
I don't like names that start with Z. I don't know why..I never have. Actually that's not true..I went through a Zephyr faze when I was like 14. haha

Date: 2007-10-11 06:55 am (UTC)I much prefer it pronounced Meg-an and I think the only way you could get people to pronounce it that way here would be to spell it Meghan - which is why I like that spelling.
