Lydia Jane vs. Layla Jane Part II

He hates it!! Boo!! =(

I even showed him how we got over 20 comments on how everyone likes Lydia over Layla... didn't convince him. He thinks Lydia is an "old lady" name. WHAT!?! I figure it will eventually grow on him, either that, or I just get my way anyway (like I always do). I picked the twins names, so what should change now? Ha ha! Who's having this baby? Yeah, that's right you silly man you.

I'm set, Lydia Jane it is. He has to deal with it. Old lady name... WHATEVER! Men. Pffft.

O_o.. Part of the she woman man hating club?

It is part his child too... (and taking up for my gender, Lydia is an old ladies name.)

All the lydia's I know are over 40... most of them are over 60 ( I can't be too sure of their exact age... it is rude to ask!).

ooooooh. Now I get it.

See, I think of Layla as an old lady name, but maybe that's because I have a great-great-aunt named Leila.

I love the name Lydia. It's one of my top fav's I hope it grows on him :)

Lydia is kind of an old lady name, but in a good way. It can grow with the child.

Layla is a stripper's name. Ask him if he wants his daughter to grow up to be a stripper.

...

Okay, I'm kind of joking on that last part though.

Layla sounds white-trashy to me. I like Lydia way better.

I agree. HEARTILY.

*fixed from deleted one due to lack of sleep*

My cousin named Lydia will soon be 4 and everywhere she goes people comment on how pretty her name is. I vote for Lydia, i it IS an 'old ladies name' at least you know it will age with the child!

Do you mind if I ask what your twins names are? I like knowing. lol

He'll grow to like it. He's really got no choice.

Lydia is a very cute name. Layla is just... no. XD

It's probably too late but I like Layla Jane much better than Lydia Jane. I think Lydia is an old lady name too.

Love Jane as a middle name for both, very pretty and balanced.

I hate Layla. I think it sounds horrible. As someone else said, sounds like a stripper name.

Lydia... Hmm, well I like the name itself, but the only Lydia I've ever heard of is the Pride and Prejudice one, which is obviously bad. So I have bad associations, but the name itself is good.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/hajari_/ 2007-10-09 08:50 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, also, I meant to add that I don't think of Lydia as an old lady's name at all. Like I said, Pride and Prejudice, so I actually think of a teenager.

you never saw or watched the cartoon Beetlejuice?

[identity profile] th3-unicorn.livejournal.com 2007-10-09 11:18 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not partial on either name, but tell him that Layla will forever cause the pronounciation issue of wheter it's LAY-la or LY-la.

"He has to deal with it"?

Wow. Nice.

[identity profile] tryyingtoevolve.livejournal.com 2007-10-09 01:47 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not an old lady name AT ALL. Besides, ask him which he'd rather have: a little kid with an old lady name, or an old lady with a little kid name? "Old lady" names can sound really cute on a little kid, whereas little kid names cease to be cute after about age 10.

[identity profile] satunian.livejournal.com 2007-10-09 03:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Ask him to watch Beetlejuice! Lydia is from the 80s, that's not old. A little retro, but not OLD!

[identity profile] christhiane.livejournal.com 2007-10-09 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Layla is a totally 80s name to me. I've never like it.

[identity profile] lneef.livejournal.com 2007-10-10 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
I like Lydia too, but do you really want your husband to dislike your child's name? Maybe you should get slightly more say as you're the one carrying and birthing, but seriously, shouldn't you both at least be okay with it?

[identity profile] queen-mab.livejournal.com 2007-10-10 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
I love Layla, but spelled Leila. I really don't like Lydia... sorry. I know a few snotty girls with the name and it's just boring-sounding to me.
