Oct. 9th, 2005 11:09 pmI love the name Mabyn, but no one else I know seems to like it, including my partner. He says it sounds too much like Mabel. I admit I thought it was sort of strange the first time I heard it, but for some reason it really grew on me. What do you think of it?
(It's Welsh for "ever young" btw)
Also...I love the German name Mareike (Muh-RYE-kuh), but I've googled and am having trouble finding a meaning for it. The closest I've found said it was a pet name for Maria/Mary/etc but that's all I've found. Anyone else know, or know where I could find out? It was the name of a pen pal of mine when I was in middle school (over 10 years ago) but I've loved it ever since, and have a lot of German in me so it wouldn't be TOO stupid to use it.
Also...can you get any cute nicknames out of it? I can't think of any. Not necessarily one she'd use enough to write down, but just a name you'd call her around the house. Like my parents always called me Rach, but it wasn't an official nickname like Susie or Katie or something that I would use for anything, just a pet name.
