Alexa or Alana?
Nicknames would be Lexie and Lana.
I slightly prefer the name Alana over Alexa, but i love the nickname Lexie a little more than Lana.

So which would you choose, and why?

I like them both...but I like Alana more. I just like the way it sounds better, but I also think the nn Lana is prettier than Lexie. And I have a family member called Alex, so Alexa would be a little too close for me.

I like Alana better. Change it to Alexandra and I'd change my vote. Alexa just seems really cutesy to me, and I think Alexandra is a much more sophisticated name for an adult, which you could shorten to be Alexa and Lexie for a child.

I love Alexa. I think it is youthful, fun and vibrant. Alana reminds me of older ladies, quite dull. It could be due to a few Alanas that I have met, but Alexa reigns supreme to me. Lexie is a fun name too. Have you ever seen the UK show Monarch of the Glen? Lexie was a love in that show.

we have girls that go to our center that are sisters.. Alexis is in the Kidergarten and Aylana is in the toddler room, my room. Their nicknames are Lexi and Layney... just thought that was strange with what u posted lol

Alexa. Alana just always struck me as a rich yuppie airhead's name...it's amazing what association can do to you. I like just plain Lana, though, as a name.

I've never thought of using Lana on it's own. To me it sounds too nicknamey.

I'm sorry, I strongly dislike Alana, and Alexa looks incomplete to me. Alexia would be my suggestion. And I'd choose Lana over Alana as a name of it's own.
And between Alexia and Lana, I'd choose Alexia.
Anywho, I prefer Alexa to Alana for sure.

I don't think i could ever use Alexia because to me it sounds too close to dyslexia.
I suppose you could say the same thing as Alexis sounding too close to dyslexic, but it doesn't jump out to me like it does in Alexia.

lol yes, I see your point :) Alexia is actually the name of the most sever form of dyslexia. And I assume Alexa is pronounced AL-exa as opposed to Al-EX-ya, right? It's actually not bad. Do you like Alexandra?

Nope, never been a fan of Alexandra, it seems too formal to me..which i suppose in a way could be a good thing, but it's just not for me lol.

that's funny bc I considered those both as alternatives to what I really wanted to/ended up naming my daughter (Amelia).

I think I'd say go for Alexa which IMO is much better than Alexis and I also like the nn Lexie. I do kind of like Alana and think it sounds more sophistocated but I hate the nn Lana. or the name Lana in general.
