are there any names you have a problem with simply because of how they are pronounced? with me, for instance, the name Brianne/Brianna... since Brianne is spelled like Brian, just with -ne on the end. & the beginning of Brian is said like Bry- & Brianne's beginning said Bree-. same with Michaela. Michael with just an -a on the end, but said differently lol.

stupid, i know. but strange things like that bother me lol.

also, what do you think of people who have children with more than one person, & name the kids very similiar, or the same, names? example: on television i saw a guy (Jayson) who had been married previously & had a child named Jayson Michael- & they call him that, by his first & middle name. the man then re-married & had another son (approximately 8 years later) who they named Jayson whatever Jr.- who they call "Junior."

Siobhan. It LOOKS cool, but it sounds like a trailer trash name.

I agree with this SO MUCH. For the longest time, I pronounced it "SHEV-on", and loved it. And then I learned the emphasis was on the "-ON". :(

My mother had my first brother and named him Nicholas. After she divorced his dad, she remarried to a Nicholas. She then (after having my sister) had my other brother. His name is Nicholas Jr. I think it's strange.

Oo I didn't know that. Does it just cancel out the M? The only Gaelic names I know how to pronounce are Siobhan and Saiorse.

I like the way Caoimhe sounds more than it looks. I've never really been a fan of the LOOK of most Gaelic names, but with the exception of Siobhan (where it's the total opposite), I generally like the way they sound.

I love the look of Calliope, but I never say it correctly on the first try. It always comes out cal-ee-ope.

funny you should mention the name Brianne... that's my name and my entire life (almost 29 years), my family (and consequently anyone who has gotten close with me/them) has always prn my name Bree-in, like Brian, but with a Bree sound in the beginning. usually, for the sake of not having to explain it a billion times, I let people call me Bree- anne. even though it's easier than having people look at you cross eyed when you say Bree-in it still pisses me off bc I feel like it's not my name since we never said it that way. and I HATE when people call me Brianna. there's not even an a on the end.

um, I guess that didn't really answer the question you asked. lol sorry. though I totally agree with the Michaela thing. my BIL is named Michael & they named his daughter after him... but I think he doesn't even know how to spell his own name or something bc on her birth certificate, he wrote Michaila with an i. idiot. lol

and I think that's insane to name a kid the same name as another sibling (half or otherwise) like George Foreman and his 4 kids named George. it's double weird/kind of insulting when it's with a different partner.

Sean. I know it's 'Shawn', but it looks like 'Seen'. I can't help it. I have to make a real effort with Sean. I read it as Sean and then switch it when it comes to saying it out loud.
